Dan--I freaked out when I saw you on the site and then realized it was the new AAR! I'm a little jumpy over life issues... You have done so well in this Mod attacking me in this area, what do you think is possible? I really want to try to force the Allies back to that line shown above so we can grab the resources, oil, heavy industry, and manpower benefits....
I haven't read all the posts after this one, so this may have been answered already or you may have moved on to other plans.
As an Allied player, I would hate to try to defend India against a major attack early in the game without major assistance from the Chinese. If I was the Japanese player and managed to prevent the Chinese from lending a hand, I would probably make India my main focus of the game in hopes of taking the sub-continent and thereby putting the Allies in a tough position on that half of the map. This is assuming my opponents weren't able to reinforce through other weird means such as that little trick that allows players to transfer units from the West Coast of USA to Aden. That would make my idea much less attractive.
If the Japs are going to seize territory that will really put the Allies in a tough way and perhaps threaten an auto-victory, it seems like India, Australia, and Hawaii are the only three viable options, and only the first two of those offer the Japanese alot of resources. Q-Ball is correct in his notes that the only way the Japs can win in this game is via auto-victory. So, do you intend to win by auto-victory? If so, I think you've got to go for Australia or India with everything you have and count on the KB to punish any American efforts in the Pacific while you make your effort.
Speedy did a great job of invading India late (after May '42) and put Admiral Dadman on the defensive in a nip-and-tuck battle, so you would seemingly have a more forgiving timetable than he did. Assuming that you take Singapore in a reasonable time and that the Allies can't load up Aden with USA units as noted above.
Good luck! Have fun!
