First off, don’t forget, this is art for the commercial product. Matrix wishes to keep the ship details visible in the commercial product. Since the job of dazzle is to obscure ship details, only the hulls of a limited number of ships were implemented in dazzle measures, and subdued ones at that. Topsides were not – on purpose, so as not to obscure the superstructure details. Sorry, but this is not-negotiable for the general release product.

All the artists have a vast stock of after-market art that will be made available to the paint job grogs. Most ships have multiple upgrade art slots, for this very purpose. TomLabel is the “Measure” king and probably has every ship in every paint job ready to go. We also have a complete listing of every bitmap for every ship class, the evolution (upgrade) flow, and the time period (mm,yy).

As soon as it's out my RN ships are getting pretty dazzle schemes [:D]

I'm new, so don't yell at me.

JWE has pictures on white backgrounds, Terminus has pictures on the backgrounds I'm used to seeing. Is something strange happening here?

I'm showing sides, which is the graphics you see if you look at a ship data screen in the game. JWE is showing ship shils, which is what you see on the surface combat screen (the filled-in background colour disappears).

Okay, here’s more of BigB’s ‘specials’. Tenryu morphing into a CLAA (official IJN blueprints), Kitakami morphing into a Kaiten carrier (official IJN blueprints), and Mogami morphing into a CVS (official IJN blueprints).

Oh, wow! Amazing! This may be off topic, but I'm new and trying to learn who really knows what. The people who post these seem to be the people who make things happen. Is there anyplace to find who they are?

So he can know who to believe, Termie.

Hey Osterhaut, people who have some kind of AE thingy in their signature block, can be presumed to know somewhat of whereof they speak. Except for Terminus. He is a special case; a wandering minstrel; a voice in the wilderness; a fly in the ointment. Give him 2 grains of salt, and he's worth a million nattering internet voices. Off Topic pal, so no more. Good question, though. Maybe bring it up elsewhere.

Thanks for the nod of appreciation John[:)]

By the way - this is beyond strict AE, but I also have most all of the major "ships that never were" ready for an AE add on or mod.[;)]

below is an example

A team member list was posted at one point, but I forget where, and it would probably be out of date now. Sorry...

Actually I've kept it up to date - more or less - it is a link in the first page of the DEV Forum announcements page!

One last tease (but remember - jpegs don't do justice to a finished bitmap)

Edit: all these (and more) were developed by myself for later AE, I'm not sure if they will actually ever see the light of day beyond this though...

But back on topic. Any more requests?

Since your asking:

1. Sampling of some US Destroyers (especially Fletcher)
2. Liberty Class
3. Some of the Amphib types: LST, LSD, LSV and so on

And really . . .

Anything your willing to post! The screens look amazing by the way!

Thanks in advance

I'd be curious to see a couple submarines, and some of the "smaller ships" T mentioned -- PTs, patrol boats, midget subs, whatever.

OK, here's a little more AE. This time the upgrade/variation path of the Gato Class beginning in '41 and ending with the 'Gunboat' version.

Very cool. Maybe I'm imagining it, but this new ship art seems more detailed to me. I like it a lot.

Easy young padwan, the key to learning what you seek is patience. Review a few of the more important threads and you'll soon learn who is who and more importantly, whose voice is "official".
