Can we lock this thread?

shouldn´t the three people that got banned have a chance to contribute? If it´s possible to do it in a normal way without "idiot", "*****" "%("=%/" being thrown back and forth I guess it should be allowed to discuss things (even if it´s about the fact that you don´t like someone for whatever reason).
no i just think that this thread is turning into a lets vent on the people we don't like thread. and nothing good can come of that. i also think that you bringing up the whole thread v steakhouse is one sided and while not factualy incorrect you also did not metion all the things the threadsters get called by doggie and mdeihl on the new steakhouse forum. I don't think anything mynok or T has said about them has been anyworse than the things they have said about the threadsters. I think at one point they said we had less brain activity than a zombie.

also i think erik and jwilkerson both said that this was not an open for discussion thread well before you started pyling on.

I'm not going to apologize for my opinion of mdiehl, but I don't follow him around calling him out. I totally ignore him. I've never called him a single thing directly.

Terminus has his issues, but Japan followed him around for 3 weeks trying to egg him on. That's trolling no matter what you imagine it to mean.

I believe I have another green button to add.

And just for the record, I have been banned, and it was for 3 months not one week. You want the story you can ask Mac67 and he can tell you if I'm easy to get along with or not.

One more point so that we're all on the same page. Once Japan, Terminus and Dixie return, the idea is that they've paid their dues and get to start over. I don't want to see things pick up again right where they left off, provided they keep to the straight and narrow.

What part of this do we not understand?

This is not supposed to be a page where we expand the idea that personal attacks are allowed....or indeed a forum where this is allowed......let's drop the past and move on.......no more 'He said this.....and he said that'...........what's the point......

WitP is the game that unites this community......let's talk about that.........and by the way......AE is looking so good.......I'm thinking about giving up work and living on 'the streets'......but where will I get power for the laptop......hmmmmm...better re-think.....

hmm. I can only keep on shaking my head just from the first time I´ve looked into the thread and now here. I stand by what I´ve posted. Calling someone what was posted by mdiehl is beyond me, I don´t know the reasons for it, you may well have them. I don´t know anything about the steakhouse (whatever that may be, I´ve heard about it several times though) but if you referre to what I´ve posted about what T posted towards that girl - this was something someone brought up in a pm I received.

If you want to use the green button or already have done it, well Sir, I don´t think I have a problem with it. At least I can imagine why people here seem to get more and off - for a reason I don´t know as I still stand by what I´ve posted before, why should we post such things and should not be aware of being banned immediately.

I´ve posted rude insults also, against one forum member and added the info that I´m well aware of the fact that I can get banned for it. The problem is, that there are a couple of people on this wonderful forum that have problems with a lot of people here and therefor more and more people get involved in rude discussions or insults or whatever. And there are always the small number of people involved, no matter if problems between old and new forum members arise, always the same people are in the middle of it...

No, really .....look at Erik's post..........look again.......think about what it means.........and then let us all think about the glories of AE.......I mean, a more workable FOW.....a map of sheer beauty.......This will be life changing................

You are correct, I don´t know what doggie or mdiehl brought up on the steakhouse, I don´t even know doggie. And as posted above, I also don´t know the steakhouse. All that I was referring to is what mdiehl has posted above and I admit it can of course be onesided, as I don´t know what happened before. All I want is to stop people from bringing this S H I T here. I know mdiehl from his posts here with his oppinions about aircraft strenghts, tactics etc that are not the common forum oppinion. Well be it, but I have never seen him in the WITP forum posting something that would show up as !$)%!". So I can only judge from what I read in the WITP forum.

It´s the best forum I know and there are very few people that have been constantly tried to deliberately make it just one of the ten thousands of other dumb forums.

I still think that the precedent of banning someone for "incitement" is a slippery slope and extremely dangerous. I think it is good that the Moderators have allowed these expressions of concern to be expressed and while I think they haven't really taken it on board that's entirely their right. They give us/me the right to express an opinion and they have the right to choose to disregard that opinion. That's perfectly palatable.

While I agree that the key reason for this forum is to discuss WiTP. With that said I think that one of the things which HELPs keep this on topic ( discussing WiTP ) is the occasional discussion about forum behaviour which is being detrimental to this greater goal.

Well, the rules STATE that no personal insults are allowed. They do NOT state "Oh but if you're just insulting someone in The Thread but not to their face that's fine." Either personal insults are banned on this forum or they aren't. We can't just start saying that they're allowed in certain sub-sections --- absent the obvious exception where friends are humorously insulting eachother egregiously and in the pursuit of a simple laugh ( so Thread members insulting other Thread members is obviously fine.... Insulting non-Threaders in the Thread just simply shouldn't be allowed though. It IS a breach of forum rules.).

When Terminus, Dixie and Japan come back they SHOULD get a clean slate but that clean slate shouldn't extend to allowing them (or any of us ) to insult others when their backs are turned ( e.g. in The Thread ). Either personal insults are banned or they aren't. It isn't up to forum members to decide that a particular portion of the forum is not bound by the rules the rest of us are bound by.

If they break the rules when they come back ( no matter where these rule breaches occur ) then they should be banned again just like any of the rest of us would be. I couldn't expect to egregiously insult someone in my AAR and then say "Oh but it was in my AAR so forum rules don't apply". Sorry guys but I don't think The Thread ( or Steakhouse or whatever ) warrant an exception from the rules we are ALL supposed to abide by.

With that said, when they come back if they don't breach the rules then they should ALL get the benefit of the doubt.

Also, I don't know mdiehl from Adam but those comments he quoted are clearly breaches of the forum rules. I don't see how anyone can defend them being made. Seriously, how can you defend such personal attacks being made on a forum in which they are EXPLICITLY banned?

Well, that's that settled then.

Everyone,

As noted before, Terminus has offended in the past and has been banned for it. When Terminus, Japan and Dixie return, they will have a clean slate in the eyes of the moderators and we would ask that the same courtesy be extended by forum members. A clean slate does not mean that they are in any way exempt from forum rules in the future, it just means that we accept that they paid for the things they got banned for and move on with discussing WITP and other much more fun stuff.

I hope everyone has had a chance to add their two cents, I think it's time this thread was locked up though as an ongoing debate was not the intention. Personally, I can think of a million things I'd rather do than go digging into posting histories and cultivating grudges. Let's all focus on WITP, the upcoming AE and our shared love of wargaming. Thanks.

Regards,

- Erik
