Obviously, Admiral ("Hey, I'm Dana Andrews, and I was pretty good in film noir movies before my career disintegrated, wasn't I") Broderick's greatest fear has been realized - the Japs have landed two coffee-grinders-cum-tankettes on Oahu, and they're coming to get him!

Against infantry with no anti-tank capability, I'm sure they were adequate to do the job. One of those "in the valley of the blind, the one eyed is king" deals.

Look at some of the armor the Germans used in 1939 and 1940. The Panzer I didn't even have a cannon.

how managed the German to overrun Poland, France, Greece, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium and a huge part of the Soviet Union with their garbage? Following your statements (that pretty much are always the same as soon as Brady posts a pic showing one of the tankettes) the German would have never been able to overrun France in a couple of weeks, nor would the Japanese been able to overrun Malaya or any other area after the war started.

Except "some" Pz IV, I can´t see the German having anything that you would have called a tank in the years from the war´s start until mid 41 early 42. While the Japanese of course never had something that could be called a tank in your world.

Didn´t Denmark have some machine guns to take out some of the Nazi garbage coming over to take out the whole country without a fight? Just curios [&:]

When the Nazis really had TANKS, they achieved more or less nothing anymore on the offense in the long run.

Two pieces of crap scrap metal that rolled through Poland. But the Polish didn´t field machine guns, hence they were overrun... [;)]

I´m not arguing that German or Japanese tanks or tankettes were the best you could imagine in terms of tanks in WWII but they were surely adequate to what they were used for and IMO they achieved far more than any of the later models in the war.

The Germans had inferior armor, but had superior tactics when it came to using them.  This was never truer than 1940 in France and in Russia when they ran into the T-34A and beat it using PzIIIGs & Hs (50mm guns).

Never pretended that the Germans didn't have superior tactics, they did. They also had fully integrated the use of radio on all levels of their armoured formations, which made a huge difference.

That doesn't mean that the Pz I, and all other tankettes like it, weren't garbage. The fan-boyism of people like you, Castor, doesn't make an iota of difference.

I think these flying thingies had something to do with it....that and this relatively new idea of coordinating them with ground assaults.
