Holiday in Scotland

Post by JudgeDredd »

Just come back from a holiday in my Fatherland - Scotland.

I lived there from a bairn up to 16 when I joined the Army. I've lived in England ever since...so I've spent the majority of my years in England. Whenevr I go back to Glasgow, it's always to see friends and family...so I never get to see much of Scotland and I was getting pretty fedup being told by all sorts of nationalities how beautiful my own country is...so this time we rented a cottage for the week in a wee town calld Onich just south of Fort William

We wanted to climb Ben Nevis, but the weather was awful all week. It was eventually meant to be nice on Friday, so we choose that day to do it - unfortunately, I was advised not to go above 600 meters with the kids due to the 70mph gusts. We ended up going 900 meters and headed back down, gutted. But it will still be there for the doing another day.

Ben Nevis, by the way, is the biggest mountain in Britain standing a proud 1344 meters (4409 feet).

These are a few photos of our trip.

At the start looking fresh and keen

As far as wee could go - 900 meters

Great pictures JD. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the pics Judge. I have very fond memories of Scotland, absolutely stunning landscape. Great place to ride your motorbike. Say, talking about Ben Nevis.... you *did* go to the distillery didn't you? The make world class whiskey and you can buy it there quite a bit cheaper.

Oops - and of course - Nessie, The Loch Ness Monster!

I knew it was real! (wonder why so many people had such a hard time getting pics or proof of it?)

Well...Nessie's quite a disappointment, isn't she? Totally overhyped. [:D]

Great pics, JD.

great pics, a beautiful country (and lasses!)

OK, was I the only one who had to look up "bairn"? [&:] (figured it meant child, ankle-biter, lineoleum lizard, etc, but wanted to be sure...[:)])

Fake, all fake I tell you. This is supposed to be Scotland but not one view of a bottle, even so much as a dram of single malt? I think not.

I need to visit Scotland someday. My son has been over there, and our family orginated from there.
