But you only have 30% more op losses IMO for 30% more training.

Of course, going from 70% training to 100% training is about a 43% increase.

the only thing I don´t get is why setting it as a training unit when you can always do training? [&:]

A Training unit (as opposed to simply a unit training [:D]) is allowed to expand to double pilots. AND you can rotate the trained pilots back to the general pool in groups of 10. Also you can only get the instructors bonus (PMA section 7 Item 3) in a training unit

interesting thanks.

for me, doubling the pilots is something I probably won´t do as I can´t see much of a need for it, except lowering micromanagement as I guess if every pilot has his own aircraft he will train up faster. Rotating in groups of 10 can also be an advantage but again it´s more or less only lowering micromanagement. The instructor sounds interesting. In a normal group set to training you get the leader and veterans as bonus for the rookie training but probably not the instructor? Whereas in a training unit you get the leader, veterans and the instructors that were sent back to training command?

yeah, I was thinking about this but then thought doing the math and stating that using 100 instead of 70 would give me a 43% increase would be disturbing on the first look and would create more questions. [:D]

So far so good on this training thing thanks to the efforts of you guys!

However, here comes the next "Q":

How does a pilot quailfy as an Instructor and thus enter Training Command? Is it at least 81% Exp, plus at least flown 1 combat mission? Also does his Experience/Skill with say Air/Ground, etc need to be at a certain level as well?

Not really all that clear on this issue...

Thanks,

When assigned to a unit he has to have >85% exp. If he's in the reserves the figure is >80%.

Could someone tell me where this info is re Training units? I'm unable to find it and playing the Allies the method described above doesn't work. Is this a Japanese thing only?

Belay that, I've just found out why I couldn't create an Allied training group. The ones I tried were attached to restricted HQs.

So the only thing I need to know is were is the info please.

Observations:

1. Not all units seem capable of converting to TRAINING units. It would be helpful to know what the conditions are of being able to do this. But it doesn't work on every unit.

The main benefit seems to be that you can load it up with more pilots. And as another player indicated, the pilots somehow train even if there aren't planes to fly (Maybe they read manuals?)[&:]

2. There is a delay in moving pilots to the Pool, and having them available for deployment to units. I think this is mentioned in the manual as random, but about a week or so. Sometimes if you assign them to a unit there is a delay; the pilot is grayed, and a delay number of days is indicated in the far right-hand column.

3. There isn't any reason now that you can't switch pilots from one discipline to another. You can set a Jake unit, for example, to train on Nav Attack, and eventually send those pilots to the pool, then redeploy to Val unit. I think this works, that you can pull a pilot from "Patrol Reserve", even if you are a bombing unit. This seems a bit extreme, but I guess if you get desperate for bomber pilots....

Units in a restricted command can't be set as trainer units.

Maybe the penalty for switching is still there when you take a unit out of the patrol reserve and put it in a bomber unit ?

Castor , as per addendum manual .. training groups get more checks and therefore should progress faster.

Groups can fly normal Training missions (with a training percent) which occur in the
AM and PM air phases. These gain both skill and experience points.
Groups will also gain skill and experience (after passing a training check against the
training percent of the group) at the end of each day:
1. if the pilot’s experience is less 50 (plus pilot’s missions and kills) and less
than the overall group experience level
2. if the pilot’s experience is less 50 (plus pilot’s missions and kills) and less
than the leader’s skill
3. if pilot is in a dedicated Training group with some Instructors (adds higher
increments to accumulators)
4. if pilot is in a dedicated Training group without Instructors (higher success
and slightly higher increments than a normal group)
5. if pilot is in a group with some training percent (number of veteran pilots
(experience of 80+) increases chance of successful training

hope that helps
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

How are Instructors plucked from Training Command? I have pilots in Training Command but when I ask to get an Instructor it says none are available. Confused on this point.

Your Instructor that your trying to relocate out of TrainCom must be of the same Nation, Type ie: Marines, Navy or Army, etc as the unit you wish to assign him to and maybe a min skill requirement for type of AC like Fighter, Bomber, etc though not sure on this last part? Maybe someone can enlighten us on this?

Hey Dude!

Just trying to get this training/skilling stuff up to snuff, so I don't condem my troops an un-timely demise[8|] BTW, I'm seeing a Large & rather Slow improvement with setting some units to 100%[X(]

So are you gonna take on the job of Top Jap or Allied this time[&:] I don't wanna have to learn production yet if I don't have to[8D]

Later!

The last step does not happen for me. Ever. I do NOT get Training Group" it goes back to "Any" I think. What do I need to do to activate this option.

1. Type of pilot assigned
This control shows the experience level of pilots being assigned to this group.
The control is clickable and cycles through the following values;
• Any: As it states, it will draw pilots of any experience
• Trained 50+: This will draw pilots with an experience of 50 – 60
• Rookie 60+: This will draw pilots with an experience of 60 – 70
• Experienced 70+: This will draw pilots with an experience of 70 – 80
• Veteran 80+: This will draw pilots with an experience of 80 – 90
• Elite 90+: This will draw pilots with an experience of 90+.
> one more click makes it a training group

You are not able to designate a group "training group" any longer, it was a beta patch feature.

Is this feature still available in the latest patch?  Although the above instructions are very good, I haven't been able to find any air group (restricted or not) for which clicking on "Elite 90+" brings up anything other than a return to "Any".

I thought I was at the end of the thread when I asked the above question, now I see the feature was removed.  Too bad, it looked like fun.

Thanks, guys. This has been a very useful thread. Edit: Whoops - no longer present. No wonder I hadn't seen it before.
