RE: Resources to Honshu

It's almost like the resources are accumulating past the 999,999 cap at accumulation points with the excess being lost but it could just as easily be transportation losses. I hope they do something about this for the final patch 2. I'm guessing they will. This is the most interactive group of devs I've ever seen or heard of. They really go above and beyond to deliver a great game.

My test seems to indicate that it is transport loss rather than overflow. The highest losses are before the various ports max out. After than they tend to reduce.

I'd believe that. As I've mentioned before, I seem to run about 15K short of what Staff says I should, still a lot but well below the 26K. But since are preplaced at the beginning of the scenario there's probably a lot of movement at the beginning compared to steady state.

And the 15K honestly doesn't bother me. So I start with a small resource deficit - that just means I need to go capture some rubber plantations in the DEI or whatever.

That 15k a day turns into 450k a month.  I wouldn't call that minor.  Also, that means that you need to bring in 125k a day instead of "only" 110k a day.

I agree it's non-negligible. But I guess what I'm saying is I don't necessarily think it's wrong or bad. Should Japan be self-sufficient in resources on day 1 or should Japan need to import some resources from the DEI? To me, the latter seems more "real."

Whether the exact percentage lost in transit is consistent with true transit losses, I have no clue. But the overall effect feels right.

And Japan does have the shipping to keep up. At least at the start.

BTW, not all of the 15K is in the HI, although a large chunk probably is so you point about increased imports needed is valid. But there's a lot of resource movement on the mainland.

erstad, I agree with you.  Historically the Japanese did import a good deal of stuff which we call resources from the SRA to the Home Islands.

undercovergeek, all of the initial Japanese holdings produce an excess of resources with the exception of Honshu.  Ship as much as possible from everywhere to Honshu as quickly as possible.  The excess that starts at Honshu will last about 1.2 months.

Transport wastage of resources has been reduced for patch 02 - turns out very few AE Team members realized this was happening - but it was always there - unchanged from stock!

Could we know how much has that wastage been reduced? Is there any cap on that now? I assume by resources you mean both resources and oil?

Supposedly there is, but I won't rely on it. I assume there isn't and plan to transport all the stuff myself.

I'm a little worried that trying to haul the resources from Kyushu is going to be difficult. In my earlier post I described a scenario where resources actually moved from Honshu to Kyushu on their own. Granted, I only ran one turn and my "test" may not be valid for one reason or another but if you press the 'r' key it looks like there is a railroad connecting Kyushu to Honshu so that may have something to do with it. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed anything like this.

There is no land bridge between Shikoku and Kyushu. There are land bridges between both of these islands and Honshu. In patch 2 there is a railway connecting Kyushu and Honshu as well, which should allow easier transfer of resources between these two islands.
