Hm, would someone pleas elaborate on the adjective pretentious?
I used Leo to look it up and it gave me several possible translations ranging from being a liar, being pompous, being a wannabe but also not being easy to satisfy.

So please, help a stupid non native speaker to understand whether Herwin was insulted or lauded.
