too easy? my 2 first games = 2 victories

Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame! Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents Ancient and Medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. This forum also supports the Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire expansions to Field of Glory.

Meh I like the single player. So far I am liking it either way I just want more armies and expansions to make it as complete to the tabletop version as possible

ok cool ! thanks. I will have time to train :-)
Training for MP using the AI can me counter-productive. Just go for it; no guts, no glory.

I agree. Go ahead and accept a multiplayer challenge....you'll like it. After playing against the AI for a while, I realized I was winning every game. So I did my first three multiplayer challenges and ended up losing twice and drawing once. Not bad for a newbie. And even though I didn't "win" any of those games, I did find it much more fun and challenging. Multiplayer turns this game from a little gem into a treasure.

Buying Field of Glory.....worth the price.
Playing Field of Glory against the AI.....still worth the price.
Playing Field of Glory multiplayer....priceless.

I have been multi-playering since Friday night and it is very cool. Though there's not much wrong with the AI either - needs a bit more work to make it properly challenging, but it's OK. I have even been drawn in to creating my own scenarios (check out the Slitherine forum for extra scenarios).

It's addictive :)

And I didn't find a difficulty setup. Do I miss something or is the game too easy ?

I haven't seen an answer to this statement yet. You probably have seen this by now, but the Handicap setting has five levels. It doesn't make the AI any harder though. It just changes the points allotment I believe. It's something though.

With custom games I make this game quite hard. I put more troops of a higher rating against my side. That makes it a lot harder and the sky is the limit. Custom games are so easy to make too. [;)]

Why do people who dont like a game feel they must convince others not to like it to justify their own opinion ;)

You're correct. I also see the other side, and that's gamers that love a game defend it like their mother got cussed out if anything is said against it. [:)]

Too hard? My 2 first games = 2 defeats

Just bought it. I think it's fine. Looking forward to the expansion with random game generator (assuming I read that right).

I agree with you Larry and ask "Why do people who like the game feel they must convince others to like it to justify their own opinion? [:'(] And also why do they keep pushing multiplayer like it's the only thing 'good' about the game anyway? [:D]

Ha, two victories now so I must be getting the hang of how to get the pointy sticks with the sharp end towards the enemy.

There is a fair amount of subtlety in the engine (I have not played the table-top version) so once you get the hang of where to put your various units, it all starts to come together. I have been learning the value of drilled vs. undrilled... being able to choose where the pointy things point is a significant advantage :)

If you fancy multi-playering any time, just drop me a PM and we can set something up - it is where the system really shines.

@FNG

Sorry for slow reply; thank you for the offer but I really only play against AI - time, lack of attention, cowardice etc.

I'd check out MP if I were you. It is no more time consuming than single player because of the way it is done. I don't play any other game MP except FoG for the same reason.
