Good job vs. Baby KB!
Was Oklahoma hit by torpedoes, or was it a result of too much System/Flood damage?

The Gazette
Howdy ckammp, I wish I could blame it on Treznor, but Oklahoma sunk because of my mistake. I was used to WITP system didn't realize FLT damage stayed with the ship until fixed by shipyard.[:(]
Last few days have been slow for any great news so I grouped them together. Treznor is making his way slowly thru the Solomons and down the Marshall chain. Philippines are also slowly being taken over, only 6 bases remain in US hands. He is going to isolate Singapore with taking Palembang.

Are you planning to defend at Manila, or send everything to Bataan?

Chinese Front
Manila fell on the 12th, half my force was in a pocket at Batangas to the south of the Capital. They all were overrun on the 20th. Whats left at Bataan is just a few helpless units now.
Chinese front is hemorrhaging badly. I've moved most of my reserves from Sian and the capital toward the front. I've stopped him in the north...I think, but if he pushes hard enough, the south is wide open. I have no clue on how to stop him. He had to move some divisions from Manchuria or something; or do the Chinese start off weaker then in WITP?!? [&:]
Golly gosh, has anyone lost China before?!? [X(] Hope I'm not the first, it just seems so hopeless there.

Saratoga Sunk!
I knew better! [:-] I KNEW BETTER! [:@] But I did it anyways, split my CV's to rotate them through the southern Solomon's and New Guinea region. Was trying to deter anymore invasions and I thought I was safe with all my search aircraft out of Port Moresby. There was this fat juice target just outside Buna....just asking for a bombing...a bunch of cruisers and destroyers [8D] But....I got bushwhacked by KB! Trez's carriers came out from the eastern Solomon's and POW! [:@] Not one counterstrike could get off the deck.
Should I keep my CV's together or take the chance and spread them out to stop Jap expansion? I very much doubt Treznor will split KB now that baby KB got spanked. My main goal this early is just to slow/halt his progress into my shipping lanes for Australia and NZ. AH...a good project...a map to explain what I'm doing [:D]
Another update to house rules....there are none. Hate the sub imbalance but I hate the house rules more so we now are free for all again [;)]

Operation Stonewall
Here is my generalized plan for central/south Pacific for 1942, Operation Stonewall. [:'(]

RE: Operation Stonewall
You don't yet have enough carriers to face a full KB, so I would advise spreading out your CVs to counter Japanese advances and strike back where you can. Having Baby KB at least temporarily out of action is a big help.
Very nice map, though I am puzzled by your reference to territory "suspected" to be occupied by Japan. I know the FOW in this game is good, but isn't possession of bases instantly known to both sides?

RE: Operation Stonewall
Ckammp, I thought long and hard over the carrier issue. What you say is what I was thinking, but that only give Treznor the option to hunt down my carriers one by one. I'm keeping them in 2 or 3 to protect critical targets which are Australia, Pearl, and India. Once I can gather 4 or more carriers without risking the protection of my 'critical' regions I will take to the offensive.
In my haste I used suspected....a better word would of been 'predicted occupation'. Meaning he will beat me to those bases before I have the strength and resources to get to them. [;)]

RE: Operation Stonewall
Do you have any long-term plans for an offensive in the DEI, or are you just planning a more 'historical' advance thru PNG and the Solomons?

Here you go sir, please tell the chairman of the committee that General Stilwell will be available to further discuss these brief outlines at a later date.

His high alt. fighter sweeps finial pay off for him. The last 4 days I must of lost 10 Hurricanes, 8 Buffalo, and 6 P-40s for nothing in return. The Ki-43 Ic is the main fighter. He's sending them in at 37000ft. I just can't match his ceiling.

What a blundering mess I made of this one! That should read 200km from Singapore!

RE: London Times
I can understand the Oscars winning vs. Buffalos, but shooting down 10 Hurricanes and 6 P-40s with no losses seems incredibley lucky. And shouldn't flying the lightweight Oscars at such extreme heights on a daily basis cause a lot of Ops losses?
Lewis H. Brereton, LTG, USA - shouldn't he be commanding Far East USAAF on February 10,1942?
Or did he sneak out ahead of MacArthur?[:D]
Obviously, the editor of The London Times can't bring himself to admit that His Majesty's colony of Singapore is in mortal danger![;)]

I have no idea on his op losses, but I believe since the 'Ic' model has a better punch hes knocking my fighters down on first hits and with his larger numbers and higher alt. hes getting the best of me. For now I'm grounding all my fighters in Burma until my Hurricane Sqd. can be regrouped together and face him in larger numbers.
Fighting in PI is almost done, Bataan falls leaving little scraps of units left.

RE: Bataan Falls!
Maybe the problem is that your fighters are too high ? Not sure how the air combat routine works, but it might be that he is getting good shots at your fighters because he can bounce because of the height advantage and afterwards no more damage gets done because all fighters are too high (and thus have low manoeuvre) to do any damage. Going lower would mean you still give him the bounce, but at least later on your at altitudes where you can fight back.
Not sure if it will actually work, but at 20-0 it seem time to experiment a bit.
And somehow I feel I should have put this on some sort of official form.
