IJN Fighter Production

Post by Bliztk »

Raw data

Image

Yellow = Carrier Capable
SR = Service Rating
FB = Fighter Bomber
TYPO: N1K1 George has a service rating of 3

I see three roles for IJN Figherts:
Aircraft Carrier, Long Range Escort, Interceptor.

So here is my selection:

IJN Selection

Image

A6Mx rules the skyes until George arrives, in the Interceptor and Multirole functions.

Only advantage of N1K1J Georges vs J2M2 Jacks are climbing speed and and slight advatage in MVR, but combat punch with 4x20 mm cannons ! with 2x 7.7mm is unrivaled. The J2M3 does not edge N1K1, and the N1K2J is 2 month earlier than J2M5.

As V-Weapon, and since in late 45 carrier and escorts are not needed will invest in the research of Shinden over the other possible candidates.

Any comments or insights ?
I`m feeling too alone in this thread [;)]

Am following both sides of this and will be careful when commenting.  This is a fascinating variant!  I'd love to play it myself.

My only comment now is that the George and Jack have limited units that can be upgraded to them.  Comparatively speaking of course to the CV capable birds.  That said, the effect that the 4x20mm armed aircraft might have on 4e raids makes them worthwhile to pursue.

China data

The China deployments and analysis are great. It looks like you used a spreadsheet. Can you make it available for other JFBs?

EDIT: I see now. You used WITP:AE Tracker with a .csv export!

IJN Fighter Production

Post by Bliztk »

IJN Figher Production.

J2M Series is dropped in favor of N1K1 George. Streamlining the production means that I will be able of fielding full squadrons with reserves, then minimizing the high mainteniance level of the N1K1.

A7M2 is expected to arrive between 44/12 and 45/1
N1K1 is expected to arrive between 43/5 and 43/7
J7W1 is expected to arrive between 45/2 and 45/5

IJN Airplane Production

Post by Bliztk »

Nothing fancy here. The IJN Float plane for subs will be eventually updated, unless all sub carrying airplanes are sunk !

High floatplane number is because I plan to resize every floatplane to 18 airplanes to try to ASW every approach to the home islands

IJN Bomber Production

Post by Bliztk »

Here I enlarge a bit the G3M and G4M series. A unescorted strike means a lot of planes dead in one day.

P1Y1 is heavily researched, as armor is needed for survival. Then G4M2e with Okhas and P1Y3 with Okhas MK22 are also researched.

P1Y1 is expected to arrive between 44-7 and 44-9
G4M2e is expected to arrive between 43-8 and 43-9
P1Y3 is expected to arrive between 45-6 and 45-8

Patrol planes are easy. Mavis is switched on Emily at arrival.

IJA Fighter Production

Post by Bliztk »

IJA have two missions, interception and bomber-killing

Ki-43 series is abandoned when Ki-44 arrives, Ki-45 is used as bomber killer until Ki-44IIb arrives, then Ki-84a arrives, filling the gap until Ki-201 arrives to ensure air superiority over Japan !

Ki-83 is the bomber killer in the late stages of the war

Ki-201 is expected to arrive between 45-3 and 45-5
Ki-84a is expected to arrive between 43-10 and 43-11
Ki-44a arrives a month early to 42-8

IJA Bomber Production

Post by Bliztk »

Starting IJA Bombers are left alone until Ki-49Ia arrives, then ALL factories are switched to Ki-49. On 9/42 it gets armour.

Starting in June- July 42, I do not plan to need bombers on Level 2 airbases, or I will use IJN DB, that are better for low infraestructure airbases.

Ki-67 and Ki-67-(T) are researched in advance, then Ki-115a also is boosted to have a good Kamikaze aircraft.

Misc Plane Production

Post by Bliztk »

Here is the other plane production. The only issue I have is that C5M Babs maybe need a production run of 20-30 planes to cover operational and flak losses. Will use Glenn factory to ramp it a bit.

Night fighers are a bit neglected, BC I think that the drop in accuracy means that I should allocate fewer resources. If not, I can always switch factories to ramp up the production

You should be aware to not count on much in the way of plane advancement from R&D. I don't have all of the data in front of me, but, R&D factory repair for aircraft is very very slow. Here is what you need to know:

1) When 100 R&D planes (points) are produced, the plane arrival date advances 1 month.
2) R&D factories do not produce any points unless the entire factory is repaired (no damage) - so your 16 plane factories must be entirely repaired to produce R&D points
3) The rate of factory repair is something on the order of 1/1000 chance per damaged factory per day or worse. Ie, don't expect to see too many factories repairing. If I recall right, the odds may be as low as 1/3000 per day. Even if the plane is due to arrive very soon - ie within 6 months - the repair rate is fantastically small and once again, the entire factory has to be repaired to produce any R&D advancement.

By the way, engine factories do not work this way though. Engine factories can be repaired at the rate of 1 per day for 1,000 supplies.

So, eg you can expect the Aichi Ha-60 engine to become available much sooner than mid-late 1942 - if you do not change those factories you will see it advance almost 1 month every month of game time.

The comments about r&d speed are very true.  I also recall someone stating that a 100 factory r&d facility repairs at the fastest rate.  But even that rate is slow. One has to hope that they can even get one or two months knocked off but only after a stout effort.

RE: Misc Plane Production

I have done four tests of the factory setup, the advancement dates are the average between the four tests. [:'(]

Take note for example that I use 16 planes RDs, so the rate of advance is something like this:

1 factory = 1 rolls / 6 months
2 factories = 1 rolls / 3 months
3 factories = 1 rolls / 2 months
4 factories = 2 rolls / 3 months
5 factories = 3 rolls / 4 months

Also R&D factories do not repair in a linear way. As you approach to the arrival date of the plane, the repair rate is faster. For example H8K1 has repaired two points already in 6 game-days.
So do not expect advancements in the R&D front until 1943, only plane that could be advanced is Ki-44-Ia, and only by a month

Engine Production

Post by Bliztk »

This is the engine production sheet. 1945 is not show, as R&D will affect the production.

A General Note about Aircraft/Engine production

Post by Bliztk »

The ideas are:

A) Always have the more competitive and advanced plane. Armored planes are given priority. Pilots are important !
B) Have a good production capacity.
C) Turn off plane production when a certain pool of planes is reached. I have not crunched the numbers, but plan to stop A6M2 production when I have upgraded every frontline and I have at least 100 planes. THEN this pool will be lowered each month we approach an upgrade, so I do not end producing Ki-44 Tojos when Frank is next month
D) Since I have gone a route with high maintenance aircrafts, try to deploy Air Groups with max reserve planes, to lessen the number damaged planes.
