Finally, I have been working on this project during my vacation for a while. But i didnt want to update until i had figured out how to upload the initial 1940 scenario for people to download directly.
Anyway i am starting to almost be finished with a prototype for this scenario. It will feature at least three scenarios
- The Graziani Offensive ( now downloadable through this link
http://web.comhem.se/olvmyr3/ )
A 21 round introductory scenario that simulates the Italian initial offensive from september to december 1940)
- A 1940-1941 scenario
- A full campaign from 15th of september 1940 to november 1942 (150 rounds).
Anyhow, much of the work has been writing historical reinforcement lists. I have 6 months left to write for the Allies (July-november 1942). The reinforcement lists themselves are 700 lines of code and horribly boring to write. But the end result will hopefully be really nice.
Anyhow.
Here is a current scenario briefing (all elements available in the full campaign are also in the Graziani offensive).
If anyone downloads and tests it, please let me know of any pic errors or other bugs. Also if anyone feels interested to playtest against me, feel free to suggest it. The scenario has not been tested for balance.
DAK (Deutche Afrika Korps)
This scenario simulates the campaign in the Western Desert of North Africa during WWII. The scenarios are at a different length. The grand campaign start on the 15th of September 1940 and end in November 1942.
The approximate border between Egypt and Libya is marked with a red X every 3 hexes.
Each round is 5 days long (the full campaign is something like 150 rounds).
1 RULE CHANGES
In 1940 production efficency is 80 %.
There is no Horse movement. Horse move on foot speed. Instead there is camel movement which is very good in desert (15AP) and Salt marches (25AP) compared to other units.
Mac attack per hexside is changed from 50 to 60.
Max free experience per turn is 2 and max gained without combat is 30.
Airunits move at 25% cost. Naval units move at 20 %.
There are no building ships with the exception of cargoships.
Artillery range extended one hex.
1.2 Research
Manual research is disabled. From round 34 (march 1941) and forward every round there is a ca 10 % chance each round of research improvements when it comes to light tanks, medium tanks, Infantry, Guns or Airplanes. There is a slight handicap built in because the 10 % chance is increased by 1% for each less VP the side controls compared to the start of the game.
2 TERRAIN & LOCATIONS
Railroad
Rail moves by 5. Otherwise like road.
Road
A normal road.
Track
A little easier to move on wheel, artillery or tracked than plains. Also better supply, but far worse than normal road.
Salt Marches
Same characteristics as normal swamp. Camel moves through it at 25AP
Desert
Difficult to move through, except for camels who move through like lightning (15AP).
Rocky plains
Escarpment/Wadi/Ridge
Has pretty much the same characteristics as a stream in move over and attack over penalties.
Oasis
Produces 0,5K noncombat only. The only location that can build camels.
Tobruk defenses
At the start of the campaign Tobruks defenses had been much neglected by the Italians. All fortification hexes start with 600 points of damage.
Fortifications doesnt autorebuild at all in this scenario and cost 3PP to build.
3 SFTs
Motorcycles
Moven on wheels, fight like rifle. More recon points. Cost 250
Militia
80 Hitpoints, less initiative, less kill and retreatchance. Cost 80.
Recon Plane
Cannot fight. 300 Reconpoints. Move air8. Cost 1 500.
Railroad Engineer
Coastal Artillery
Like normal artillery but immobile.
Train
6000 LANDCAP. Move on Rail. Cost 4000.
88mm AT/AA Gun
A powerfull AT Gun (Lvl II) that also function as a flak. Cost 1 250. Can only be built by the german axis.
Tanks and Armoured cars are renamed but otherwise have the same characteristics with the exception that italian armour has 20% less hitpoints.
Monitor is exactly like a battleship and Gunboat exactly like a Cruiser for the purposes of this scenario.
the San Giorgio
The San Giorgio is a Cruiser that is stranded in Tobruk harbour. It is immobile but otherwise behave like a normal cruiser.
Trucks
Because of the Italian lacking doctrin trucks cost 3 000 during 1940. This can be changed by using the option Italian mobile Doctrin.
Horses
Horses move on foot in this scenario. So their use is limited to somewhat mobilize artillery and to use for LANDCAP. Horses cost 150.
Camels
Camels behave like horses but can carry 10 Supply points but only 5 men. They are the only unit in this scenario that move on Camel speed.. Have 2 recon points and can only be built in Oasis. Camels cost 250.
4 PEOPLES
People/Morale/Battle vs.

5 EVENTS
Moussolini offensive
The axis need to keep at least 500 powerpoints in Egypt between rounds 2-8. If this condition is not met the axis player looses.
Allied garrison of vital Egyptian areas
The allies need to keep at least 600 powerpoints within 1 hex of the Nile Delta, Cairo, The Suez Canal and the Nile at all times or the allied player looses the game.
Polish Volunteers
Each round there is a small chance (1%) of some polish exiles arriving in Cairo as reinforcements.
Free French volunteers
Each round there is a small chance (2%) of some free french recruits arriving in Cairo as reinforcements. This may include trucks and fighters.
German Intervention
Beginning in february 1941 the Axis powers get a 5 000K german city in the Tripoli area that produces for the Axis.
German Acclimatisation
Before october 1941 germans fight at 100% efficiency. After october 1941 they fight at 105%.
The Tiger Convoy
The first round after 48 where the allies has less than 10 VPs the Tiger Convoy arrives carrying some tanks, artillery and fighters. (around 3 Bns of tanks, 2 Bns Art and 1 unit of fighters).
6 SCENARIOS & VARIANTS
1940 Scenario
This scenario ends on round 21. If neither side has won before that then the game is a draw. The allies win if they at any time before that control more than 13 VPs. The axis wins if they at any time before round 21 control more than 7 VPs.
Axis AI
Checking this option creates a land route between the Tripoli area and the rest of the map.
Italian Mobile Doctrine
This option is unchecked at start. Checking this option lets the axis player build trucks for
1 000 directly at the start of the game. This option should probably be checked with an axis AI player.
