I think Stephen Ambrose mentioned this in one of his books. The Long Tom was brought up, the infantry backed away, the Long Tom said BOOM, and when the dust settled the artillery captain said, "There ya go." The infantry looked at the bunker still apparently intact and said, "You sure 'bout that?" The artillery captain said, "Hey...anyone left alive in there ain't doing anything for days!"
