I suspect it would shatter your raiders. You need to do lots of pilot training (I assume you have that underway), and the weak spot is that there are hardly any USN squadrons available to train USN pilots. So, a raid on Tokyo or any port with likely good flak (I'm presuming meek fighter cover) would be risking a months long handicap for what gain?

Showing up near Tokyo and taking out any convoy that happened to be available could raise the same hell with him without the air group-risk. All the other risks pertain, of course.

That should be adequate...

The Combined Fleet + KB sail east, so I take advantage of the lull to move some shipping into Singapore. Invasion at Kuching imminent.

21st Division joins the forces at Clark Field and helps reduce the defences a bit.

The ships sunk at Singapore were there as a screen. I was pulling the 22nd Australian Brigade out on a fast liner. It's off Kuala Lumpur and moving at full speed towards Ceylon.

It's interesting watching the KB move now. My opponent does not want to get within reaction range of my SAGs by accident, particularly in restricted waters. On the Jan 2/3 turn, he ended up seven hexes from their patrol line, and backed off.

Jan 11/12 Planning

The ABDA fleet has been hanging out near Koepang, and I'm sending it back to Soerabaya to be in a more central position. I've started planning regimental landings at Roi-Namur and Kwajalein. USMC forces are moving into the South Pacific. There are two carriers at Pearl and two operating out of Noumea. The 18th Division is at Batavia and I'm preparing to rebuild the 8th Australian Division at Darwin, backed by the 1st Armoured Division at Katherine. The Australian Corps is about to arrive at Aden and I'm sending transports there to pick it up.

I think my opponent's unpleasant experience with the KB running into an attack by SAGs off Soerabaya--see the mulligan messages--has made him over-cautious. The last time it showed up off western Borneo, he almost got close enough to my barrier patrol to trigger a night-time reaction. Playing the Japanese, I would have made sure I had a strong surface screen, with perhaps a major SAG between the carriers and the Allied forces, but he backed out. I then pulled back out of range of airstrikes from his predicted next position if he advanced at cruising speed. First effective attack is always my aim.
