Similar strategy was done in western campaign. War against France started in winter. But my plans were not successful. My intention was to defeat France earlier and start transfer of army groups from France to Poland earlier. France was defeated nearly at the same time as normally, so no additional time for deployment in the east was won (and by the way I missed to keep the limit to avoid an immediate start of war with SU).
As you noticed I am playing a bit different than it is done in other games. Germany does not attack Denmark and Norway. Taking Scandinavia would force German to defend a very long coast line. And British naval forces could pass Skagerak and sail to Baltic Sea. I wanted to avoid this. As well there is no German effort to support Italy in N-Africa. The Italiens are retreating and it is not the aim of Axis to take N-Africa as soon as possible. If this way is successful or not we will see.
I think that this is mistake. Not taking Norway and Denmark takes 4 production centers away ( Oslo, Copenhagen and Suplay center in Norway ). Also - I belive that N.Africa is important theathre becouse if west wins Germany gets a big line to defend ( France, whole of Irtaly amnd balkans ). And if Axis win then they have a conection with Japan, sending them most needed suplays.
But as we all know lots depend of gameplay. So good luck Rufus. It is fun game.
