One thing I've always disliked about TOAW is how fast the PO turn displays. Yes, the game pauses every now and then to show a Loss Report, but I'm referring to how fast the forces move on-map, and how quickly battles play out. It all happens so fast, in a blur, more rapidly than my tired old brain can follow.
After spending many, many minutes painstakingly planning and executing my move, it is jarring to see the PO play so quickly. I have no problem with how long or short a time the PO takes to "think" (although if taking more time makes it a better opponent, I'm all for that). I just don't want it to move and fight so fast!
One thing I especially like about War in the Pacific (Admiral's Edition, and before) is that you, the player, have near total control over turn and combat displays--how fast they unreel, and indeed whether they display at all.
So, how about some TOAW options like:
- slow PO turn execution by 2X, 3X, ...
- pause X milliseconds between on-screen counter movements
- hitting spacebar (or like WITP:AE's ctrl-P) pauses the game
For me, the journey's the thing, not the destination. I'm not impatient to win or finish the game. Enjoying the unfolding narrative is all important. Is there any practical way to slow-mo each TOAW "story"?
