I'd like to see Matrix put out a game on anything.

But as there isnt a game out there on the Med Theatre we wont see them distribute one.

As with most Italian efforts in WW2, the flesh was willing and the Admirals incompetent.

It looks to me like an Italian Navigatori class DD.

I have a soft spot for the Italian Navy, they sure designed some good looking ships.

Once but they did learn by their mistakes[;)]

Have said that they little one man boats left on a number of occasions leaving the RN wishing they hadn't.

I dream of a day when Matrix announces they will make a Mediterranean theater game.

You must have missed Conquest of the Aegean!

I meant naval game

I think the Mediterranean makes for a really interesting game given the pretty even forces employed there from June 1940 to late 1942.

As Campioni you will be keen to learn from history and make your extra battleships and heavy cruisers count, while contending properly with the limited supply of fuel and your reliance upon land based air support. As Cunningham you will be hoping to get that fleet encounter going early doors, if your slooooooow battleships can only catch the Regia Marina......

All the while, this is against a background of each side having to ensure Malta and Alexandria / or Libya are kept supplied. Fantastic.

I would love to see a game on the theatre, but, IRL the Axis failed to get the best out of their Navies whereas the Allies managed to use their assets pretty well )ie The Italian Admirals were pretty bad & ABC & Somerville did a pretty good job), The opposite happened on land in the Desert with Rommel v Ritchie & the other Cunningham.

So in a game the player has the ability to improve on the Axis effort to a far greater extent than the Allies just like most wargames allow the loser to learn from their mistakes.

The Italian heavy forces were not very eager to join the fight and were largely unimportant in the general Med war. The Italian light forces, however, did a HUGE job.

Plenty of improvement available to the Allies too. How about one of the big what-ifs? It is decided to reinforce O'Connor and make an all out dash for Tripoli after Beda Fomm; thus kicking the Italians out of Africa altogether before the Germans can come to their rescue. No Greek fiasco and the ability to put pressure on Mussolini at home early doors could have been interesting.
