There is a bug in there I just worked out. Complicated by the LLB/FB/DB addition.
Will be fixed in the 1108q8a out soon.
Actually I'm not against the idea as a JFB, just trying to work out what is happening... and wonder why it is costing as much as it is in PP's. And extensibly ongoing PP's.
From what I've noted so far testing fighters.
1. Doesn't cost anything to upgrade along a factory path or the same type of plane. Attributes(CV etc) don't seem to have an effect.
2. Costs to change type even if they are defined by the editor (which I raise my eyebrow to) or back again.
3. Even if you change type and continue on that type it costs. (another eyebrow raised) Although if you don't keep the original type I think it's ok.
... going to check engines with LB next ...
[edit] That's goofy (regarding 3) - an LB group that doesn't have any upgrade path, costs to go from 1 engine to 2 (OK) but then costs to upgrade to another 2E LB... making point 3 a quandary
Well then another beer for me and another round of testing ...
Cheers
Well it's the morning so no beer to keep the testing going but here's what I'm seeing in
Q8a:
1. Changing from type to type costs PP's when there are no defined a/c upgrades.
This varies according to type change.
1E LB to a 2E LB costs are smaller (a/c * 3) than going from a 1E LB to a 1E or 2E fB (a/c * 10).
2. It doesn't cost anymore upgrading to the same plane type from now on, retaining or not retaining doesn't matter.
3.Upgrades along the defined air group paths are no longer costing PP.s (goody!)
4.Going back down from a 2e to 1e costs PP's (if you keep the original, but not if you don't - this seems strange to me)
5.1e LB changes to fB types are missing once the first upgrade occurs (from what small I've tested) But going back to the original plane will then give you back that option.
6. Warning - You can click upgrade to a FB/LB type when it's not available, costing PP's which are then removed and you'll have to wait for the planes to become avail. But you can change to the same type which is available for no extra.
Much more testing to follow as this looks like I'll have to re-write the Tracker code for upgrades. But I'll wait for Michael to comment etc...
I'm going to retest all this cause it seems ad-hoc and not clear to me yet anyway,
