If you want to go with the AI, I think you have to go with the standard map.
Is this hard and fast?
Nope, not hard and fast. The AI works with the extended map just as well as the stock map. Remember, the AI is told what to do on the basis of "slots" (Base slots, LCU slots, Airgroup slots, etc..) It just won't use the extra bases in North India, because it hasn't been told to do so. But Aden and Abadan occupy the same slots as they do in stock, so no worries, there. The Malaya tweaks were done so as to keep the AI troop flow the same. The only PI tweak that's invisible, is Subic Bay, but the Subic Bay defenders (LCUs) are withdrawn into Bataan, so that won't matter, either, in the grand campaign scheme of things. We really did try to stay righteous.

The main "Extended" thing that doesn't work for the AI is stacking limits. It understands the "Stock Atoll/Island Size" stuff, but nothing else. Stacking limits are fun for a human player, just don't expect the AI to play along [;)] Other than that, go for it!

JWE, Gents -

I am very, very humbled, honored (and blushing) as I read your posts. No Kidding. While it has always been very easy for me to acknowledge another's excellence in any subject (and ya gotta be sincere and mean it!), it has always been difficult for me to be on the receiving end.

I am very grateful.

Mac

Well, from my point of view, you have always been a model to how people should seek information on this forum. Lot of people come here full of self-importance and their own ideas. This definitely tires those "who are in the know", aka "Devs"..since many come here to impose their will..and not to seek information.

I am not free from above, my pet peeves were Sub Air Search Radars in WitP and Allied AAA in AE. [:D] Fortunately, it was also seen both AE Devs and DaBigBabes guys..and I have no pet peeves now. [8D]

WitP and AE sparked in me an interest towards Pacific War history. Nowadays majority of my military history library consists of Pacific War books, which is funny, considering that I am ex-FDF Army officer (who always considered Navy as "paramilitary yacht club". [:D]). For me, WitP and AE have always been tools to understand this part of military history better. Tool to understand WHY and HOW things shaped up like they did..and AE with DaBigBabes has done that remarkably well.

Lot of people playing AE are competitive..and play it like a game that has to be won. This leads to wildly "interesting" strategic, operational and tactical decisions. And when things go haywire, it is blamed on game engine. For me, it is a masterpiece among military history learning tools.

Heh...

I got through it, but I basically had to tab my way around the webpage and hit return to download a file. Wouldn't work with the mouse.

I'm guessing it doesn't like IE 8.

Andrew's stuff downloaded alright. [:'(]

<Edited to fix typos.>
