Looks like someone isn't plotting their minefields accurately in accordance with international law:
TF 1 encounters mine field at Port Hedland (57,129)
Japanese Ships
SS I-123, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
TF 1 encounters mine field at Port Hedland (57,129)
Japanese Ships
SS I-123, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
TF 357 encounters mine field at Port Hedland (57,129)
Japanese Ships
SS I-154, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
There seems to be a lot of that about. Perhaps the third party mining firms need more rigorous regulation? What happens to a Jap I boat when it hits TWO mines? It was probably the severed conning tower flying 300 yds downrange and striking a second mine.
One of our own DD's didn't get the memo, either.
TF 172 encounters mine field at Port Hedland (57,129)
Allied Ships
DD Hull, Mine hits 1, heavy damage
Did we hit our own offensive minefield or a Jap defensive minefield or........?
