First off, from a long time Flat Top addict, the game looks and plays just great and we're looking forward to copies of UV arriving in the UK so we can play trans-atlantic UV PBEM!!
Now the bad news... a couple of things are spoiling my initial enjoyment of the game... ok... maybe these have been raised a million & one times, so be patient with us UV newbies...
Firstly, the AI seems to keep IJN transports afloat just long enough for them to unload all their troops ashore. Playing the 1st scenario, Coral Sea, the IJN go for Gili-Gili.... no surprises there, but when I have 5 subs and repeated multi formation air strikes causing 4,5,6 hits per AP per turn I expect them to go down. However, they linger until they've unloaded their 7,000 plus troops before even thinking about sinking. I tallied 14 1000, 500 & 250lb bomb hits on a single AP many causing 'critical damage', without it sinking... so guys... what gives?
Note this doesnt seem to apply to Allied transports. 2 or 3 hits and its off to Davey Jones' Locker for them.
Secondly... is there a Victory Points screen, you know a 'you've destroyed this, killed that and sunk that' screen. If there is then it must be hiding. If there isnt, wouldnt it be a nice addition?
