I must say this was one of the toughest for me and I just could not stop. I went from one battle to the next, fighting at least two battles in each sitting.
It was a learning process. The toughest battle for me personally and the most enjoyable was the advance through Bad Duben with the paratroopers hitting the eastern edge and holding on while I pushed hard to relieve them.
The fanatical stand of the paras against Russian infantry and tanks was very moving. I really could smell the cordite, hear the cries of anguish and sense the desperation of the moment.
The Russians, while not the usual hordes, were well positioned and slowed me down far too much.
I have some new heroes as a result. Sgt Wilder (Who else?
) has over 40 kills with his Pershing. And he is hungry for more. The progression of the campaign was interesting. I went from some draws and ended with decisives. I did end with a minor victory, which was more than I had earlier anticipated.
I did at least get the promise of trading my eagles for stars.
Any of you finished yet? How did you do?
