Some random thoughts/notes...

- Most things in the game are abstractions. Pilots/flight crews training while on board ship or carrier-in-port is an abstraction of classroom training for green pilots (and perhaps use of shore facilities for in-port carriers).
- Pilots of carriers under repair do train, but seem to do so more slowly as others have noted.
- Like most things in the game, the carrier trained status has some random factor added/subtracted to/from the time, so don't expect all the groups to hit on schedule.
- When training pilots (I mean when squadron is only doing training), use range = 0 to keep fatigue down.
- Any time a carrier is heading into a combat zone and certainly when heading into combat, check each squadron's settings more than once. Maybe even on two successive turns.
- Any time a carrier is leaving port, check each squadron's settings.
- Do not send carriers into combat with their squadrons on training.
- One more time: This is your navy. This is your navy when its carrier squadrons enter combat while on training. Got it?

Remember (I think you're aware...I'm sure you are haha) that it is the group that is trained/capable not the pilots.
Life is tough. The sooner you realize that, the easier it will be.
