Oops! Thank you Ricky. Maybe is better in this way;)

The Heer forces near Vitebsk, enraged by the destruction of the 2nd Pz Army HQ and the murder of its staff, struck back with full fury, destroying the leading tank army after throwing back its supporting army. The panzer korps that failed in its duty in protecting the HQ led the way, as the units in it were assigned penal duties until they redeem their honor. Also, large panzer forces, fresh from the victory in Leningrad, struck southeast down the Leningrad-Moscow railway, overrunning an HQ and shattering a defensive army left leaderless by the loss of its HQ.

Advances in the south aimed at capturing the heart of the Ukraine also continued to advance in a slow controlled offensive aimed at Kharkov.

Yes, the big battle will come. Rick is trying to sneak in from north but I think he might change his mind after this turn.

The guards little poor tank army will be missed greatly, but it's loss was calculated in this surprise attack. It was worth it.

The finns are at least betraying the germans as well. After we offered them, that we will give them Lenningrad if we win this war, they kindly forgot to give air support to the germans (it seems that the finn hq does not give air support to germans in range, as it was full of fighters when I tried to bomb it, and it was real close to the german panzers I bombed). As result 2 more panzer korpses were shattered in the north front. This even surprised us as we only counted with the destruction of one weak panzer korps, but the strong panzer korps guarding the supply line retreated in to death. 2 more panzer korpses are now encircled. One panzer korps were attacked in the encirclement as well, it was surprisingly weak but it couldn't be bombed as it had air support, and just held on to live another day. It was quite happy moment when we found out that the panzers are not that powerfull now. From the 3 panzer korps attacked 2 were real weaklings. If we would have 1-2 lpta's near they would have been overrun real easy. But all of those beauty's are needed at the Moscow front. But they would love to fight with panzer korpses like that. But if the germans have at least on decent panzer korps in the north they will free the trapped comarades.

With all these German set backs, I'm beginning to wonder if the Germans can win this.

Me too. The only advantages I have anymore are manpower and guns. And I need to get it through my head that the Finns HQ will not provide CAP for any units except those directly assigned to it :( . Tom is doing a great job of finding the weak points and hitting them with his very strong tank forces.

Those finns have helped me already to destroy 3 panzer korpses... I destroyed one near Lenningrad few weeks ago which should have had air cover from the finns. I did not spot the finn hq that time (being so far east), and counted on the panzer korps being out of the 7 hex air cover range from the german hq's. After quite a few bombings did I spotted the finn hq. After this I will probe all german panzers near the finn hq but far away from german hq's:)

They can. I always have my biggest succes when my air force hits hard. Other times I can only hope and pray for some opportunities. Rick's is knowing me better and better, there will be no finn hq helping me out, and he back's up panzer's with panzer's nowadays. My air force is erradicated for at least 3 months now. I suffer huge losses, and have no squads and guns or tanks in my pool not to even mention planes. I have very tough 3 months ahead in which I will probably lose. If I survive that it might get a different ballgame as the red air force will come back with all la7's. These fighters beat the fw's on even terms and have a chance against the jets. They will do much more damage then the yak9's.

The Heer, surprised by the lack of support by the reluctant Finns, took back control of Leningrad and pulled the Finns out of the line. Meanwhile, the Red Air Force bases north of Moscow were struck by bombers, with few getting through but heavy losses suffered on both sides. This was followed up by heavy fighting in the north to free our panzers, resulting in the destruction of 2 Soviet armies. A poor trade for our precious panzers, but all that could be done.

No action this week, only some running away from the enemy in the north.

We are agonizingly close to autumn and some breathing time, but there is still some 3 weeks good weather left for the german warmachine to finish us off. We gave all and have nothing left!

God have mercy on mother Russia, as the germans won't have any mercy for us!

No losses this week.

Recon flights noted the transfer of large numbers of Red Air Force air units to the south, for the first time in a year or more. Fortunately the units were within range of the last group of strong experienced fighter units of the Luftwaffe, who were able to draw the enemy into combat and defeat them in the air, following up with major air raids on the enemy airfields. Over 600 fighters were destroyed on the ground.

Ground combat was bloody but limited in extent as the entire northern front is unopposed by enemy units. If the weather holds, a limited attack on Moscow will be launched soon, although some fighting is already occuring on the road to Kalinin.

Red army soliders watched with dread as the last soviet fighters flew east. To avoid panic the downfighted tank armies had to remain in position behind the infantry. Already rumors started about leaving the infatry to their doom. Rifle division commanders were lead to the camouflaged tank armies in reserve behind them to tell this to the simple soliders and rise the moral. Of course all commanders watched the paper tanks from far:) They shouldn't see the downfighted battlegear we are forced to use.
We kindly asked a infantry korps advancing to Moscow to back up, and they did.

The Luftwaffe took advantage of the missing Red Air Force to strike hard at the defenceless enemy soldiers. Along with bombs, leaflets were dropped offering a real paradise, rather than the one offered by "comrade" Stalin, to any soldiers who came over to out side, especially with the new IS-2 tanks. Some advances were made, with 2 defenceless HQs overrun north of Kharkov.

Some isII's full of bombs were sent over to the germans with white flags and a timed detonators. After this explosions killed a few thousand enemies, the germans began to use their bombers again only to drop bombs:)

We cannot do a thing with the slow infantry of the germans backed up with massive air support. The enemy broke our lines near orel, but there were no reserves there to make a continous line again. We are afraid that masses of panzers will attack there next week.

Stalin ordered the tank armies to entrench adjecent to Moscow, and slay the enemy infantry attacking. They will have to use panzers to get to Moscow! Some air cover will be needed badly when the germans close in. The tankers of the red army know that the enemy will have no mercy on them, so they prepare to bring some germans with them to death.

The assault on Moscow began in limited fashion, aimed at achieving a solid line between the rivers north and south of the capital city of Bolshevism. The attack is based on infantry forces, as the remnants of the panzers are too weak to attack. Minor gains were made, in preparation of further advances. The enemy defenses are deep and well dug in, putting our soldiers at risk of heavy losses in the final assault, if the city can even be reached before winter weather descends on the steppes.

The frontlines have reached within bomber range of the enemy reserve airfields far to the east, with hundreds of bombers joining in the battle near Moscow, against no fighter support for our valiant soldiers. But their flak shot down 32 enemy bombers in return.

The heavy rains stopped our attacks cold, just 70 miles from the Kremlin. The massive Soviet forces in the area will be tough to defeat, so we are taking the time to reorganize our forces and prepare for what will be the final battle finally. On to victory!

The soviet forces prepare for the last stand. In reality "only" our veteran and bloodthirsty tank armies stand between the enemy and Moscow (final victory). We hope the germans will try to push this infantry attack against them:) But sadly panzerattack is more likely. Snow fell at the end of the week. The betting can start about the date in which Moscow falls in german hand...

No losses this week.

p.s. I heard a good joke, probably heard by most of you but anyway:

There is something wrong in this world!

The best rapper is white!
The best golfer is black!
And the germans DON'T WANT TO GO INTO WAR!
:)

This not ment to be rasisitic at all, the point is the germans:)

The forces bearing down on Moscow edged a little bit closer, tightening the noose forming around the city. However, the professional leadership of Stavka is greatly respected by our forces and it is difficult to get a vigorous attack going. However, if snow continues, it will be possible to push forward in depth.
