Equipment List

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

nukkxx,

The SI issue is known and being looked at right now since it is hitting a few people.

A universal database viewer is on the wish list for game additions.

The acronyms commonly seen in the SI are:
HEAT - High Explosive Anti-Tank round
AP - Armor piercing round (Long rod or standard)
(AD) - Air Defense capable weapon.

There is just one thing missing, a short description.

The short description is to the right of the equipment name.

See Scorpion (Recon Tank).

Recon tank is the short description. Says what it is and it's intended use on the battlefield.

Just as the T-80U, M1A1, Challenger 1 and Leopard 2A1 in the previous screen shot all show to be Main Battle Tanks.

Hope that helps.

Good Hunting.

OK, fair enough :-)

What I had in mind was something more detailed like for example (could be a tool-tip):
The FV101 Scorpion is a British armoured reconnaissance vehicle. It was the lead vehicle and the fire support type in the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked), CVR(T), family of seven armoured vehicles. Manufactured by Alvis it was introduced into service with the British Army in 1973 and served until 1994.[2] More than 3,000 were produced and used as a reconnaissance vehicle or a light tank.

Getting a source for the information that is not copyrighted or can be licensed is the issue here. Or someone on the team (me) has to come up with an original blurb for close to 500 platforms (just in this release). A bit of a tall order. Summaries of the various platform types would be more likely at some point. Also with the internet as you just showed, you can do it faster.

And what about giving the modders the possibility to do it ? this would avoid copyright issues I guess ?

Anyway, it's not a big deal :-)

tombo,

Worth glancing over, but this game has a much greater number of platforms, the database formats for Red Storm are new so there is little comparison to weapons, platform data, and OOB layout.

We have a data viewer on our future features list to help with looking at all of the data if spreadsheet diving is not your speed.

You can of course ask questions here.
