I only see the B-17D on that list. Where are the others?

More of the quiet...

Okinawa

Bases have really started to expand at a rapid pace now. I still havn´t moved in any fighters besides on Naha. They are all still sitting at Manila. I´ll move them in force once bases have expended.
Erik is still dangling the KB in front of me. No doubt under a massive LRCAP. Not going to oblige him right now. Soon enough he will have to come to me. Patience...
He do have a BB TF sitting south of the KB. Not sure why but its only 8 hexes from the westernmost island. He might be waiting to see if another big Amphib TF is coming. Its not though. Only subs and PTs for now. [:D]
------------------------
China
------------------------
Sweeps do as predicted and about 20 Allied planes are lost for 20 Japanese. I´ll let them be for now.
------------------------
DEI
------------------------
Ordered a bombardment of Palembang to see whats there.
Never thought it possible but turns take less the 30 minutes right now. Mostly just have small fiddling to do.

Wow, really? I never noticed that before, I guess. I knew that the B-17s were all heading to Europe pretty much, but I figured that once the Eurowar was over you'd get a bunch of the bomber groups as reinforcements. I should pay more attention, I think.

The B-24s take over when the Forts leave. The -24 is a better plane for the PTO anyway.
You do get massive influx of B-17s in the fall of 1945 coming from Europe. Many hundreds.

Yes, I think over 200 B17s per MONTH. [&o] While this is excellent of course I worry greatly about pilots. The European squadrons should arrive with great pilots but most likely they will arrive with LovNav/RECON pilots just like the B29s.
How the heck will I find pilots for them! In September/October there are probably somewhere around 100(!) squadrons arriving on map!

RE: Battle for Okinawa!
Actually it is 135 B-17G monthly from 9/45
Also between May and September (most in September) You will get ~80[X(] heavy bomber groups all 15 plane size, full of planes (B29, B-17, Liberators) so another 1200[X(] heavy bombers[X(] I not counting anything past September.

Holy Christ! [X(] I really, really, REALLY hope they doesn´t come with LovNav pilots. No way in hell I can train 1200 bomber pilots in just 5 months.
But you do get 250 B17Gs per month. You have to count both columns. [:)]

I miss that.
Add to that another 20 or more British heavy bombers groups. It looks scary

RE: Battle for Okinawa!
With as many planes as you are getting you can afford to give the pilots on-the-job training. As far as the experienced pilots and crews from the ETO, wouldn't they have been rotated out of combat units in favor of those who hadn't done their duty yet?ORIGINAL: JocMeister
Indeed. Pilots and AS will be a problem though!
Never trust a man who's ass is wider than his shoulders.
RE: Battle for Okinawa!
Has anyone seen that those pilots actually arrive with lots of LowNav and Recon skill, but lousy Ground skill? That just seems really strange.

RE: Battle for Okinawa!
I don´t know to be honest but the B29s arrived with mostly LovNav pilots. About 80% of them. So I´m suspecting it might be true for the ETO bombers as well. I tried putting one of the reinforcements squadrons in the editor and it did arrive with "general pilots". From 30-60 in most skills. So hopefully that will be the case.
No turns have been done since yesterday. I hurt my back something fierce again and am bedridden pumped up on Citodon which is pretty strong and making me feel sort of...drunk actually.

Whats your current strat bombing VP total ?
Stuck in bed so I can´t check for certain but I think around 10k.
An added bonus of being bedridden is that I so far won almost 700 Euro on online poker...perhaps I could make a living out of this! [:D]

Almost on page 2! [X(]
My back is a little bit better today and I plan to start doing the turn. I hope I can get it done in intervals during the day.

Glad to hear the back is better.
They are nasty issues. I had a plethora of problems when I was younger, but slowly build up my core workouts such that I don't get them these days.

Lack of training has been my undoing. I have to sort that out or it will only get worse. I was pretty fit before Ida arrived but stopped training. A stupid choice. [:(]

A pretty good turn.
------------------------
Okinawa
------------------------
I have been positioning some subs between Okinawa and the HI. They are close enough to make it back when hit by Eriks ASW air. This seemed to annoy Erik though and he sent in some "Es" to deal with my subs. But the hunted became the hunter... [:)]
The "E" sank right away but the Tigrante should make it back to port with 59 FLT damage. Airfields continue to expand. Most are now between 3-4. I moved in 160 fighters to Nago including 50 P47Ns. I´m actually starting to hurt for lack of Fighter squadrons with all new bases to cover. I have 30 squadrons flying P39/P40s. I might have to put some of them on the frontline. Don´t tell Erik though! [:D]
------------------------
DEI/Sumatra
------------------------
I ordered a deliberate attack tomorrow at Palembang. I dread massive forts...but I might as well give it a go. Supply is running short though and I directed a TF bound for Manila to the DEI with 375.000 supply.
------------------------
Logistics
------------------------
Finally everything is up and running and we have more then enough on all fronts except in the DEI. Manila is stockpiled with 1.2 million fuel and I´ve started moving it forward to Okinawa. On Okinawa I now have over 1 million supply which should be enough for a couple of months once the B17s start flying. Most of the Barges/Landing Crafts are now in place at Naha shuttling men and supply to the smaller islands. I have about 3 million supply and 800.000 fuel moving towards Luzon right now.
------------------------
China
------------------------
The sweeps over Liuchow do very well today and we get a 2:1. Allied losses are almost exclusively British Thunderbolts which I have plenty of. 3 aces lost but 4 gained including a double ace. A big supply convoy just started unloading half a million supply covered by 300 Fighters.
Tomorrow another attack in the mountains. I hope the Japanese defenders break this time. Last attack gave me a 1:1. We also reached Kukong denying over 100.000 troops to rail out. I´m stuck here for now though as the CMA won´t be able to dislodge the defenders on their own. The main army is still 200 miles behind. I´ll order an bombardment at Kukong in a few days to have a peak of whats there. A small harassing force has broken loose of the CMA making a mess of the Japanese 69th ID fleeing towards Canton.
We have driven a big wedge into the Japanese MLR dividing the Canton/HK area from the rest of China. Still no reaction from Erik. He might have decided to let the troops stay and die in place.
