Imphal Area
At Imphal the Japanese have the 18th Division, the 55th Engineer regiment, 2 artillery units and the 5th Army HQ. It is aproximately 515AV VS the 7th Australian Division and support units at 546AV. He showed up with more firepower including the Imperial Guards division but it has bled off to the east I believe.
At Jorhat he has the 21st Division divided, the 23rd Engineer regiment, the 15th Ind. Engineer Regiment, the 14th Tank Regiment and the 3rd Medium Field Artillery Regiment at 525AV.
I just recently reinforced Jorhat by strategic move and now have 412AV in the hex.
He took Ledo for some reason. I guess he could use the airfield if he can get supply in. I think it is the same with the oil. He cant use it unless he gets it out of there and it is not likely. I am moving the 2nd Bengal Base Force back towards Ledo to see if it is occupied.
I have 104 AV at Dimapur, 272AV at Kohima, 449AV in the hex NE of Imphal.
I am not sure why he is pushing so hard in the Imphal area. He does not have much more to gain. My best guess is the expansion fever. Unless he can open a coastal supply source his gains in this area will never be sustainable.
Not much air activity other than targeted bombing of ground troops. My air force in this area is smashed as I tried to go against him and it just doesnt work for early british aircraft. Calcutta would be almost defenseless if not for the lend lease American P40E's.
He got Kalemyo up to lvl 1 air field so I am moving the Kowloon brigade down to attempt to take it over.
I have the 1st Burma brigade & 9th Burma Rifles Battalion hidden or not so hidden in the woods west of Shwebo ready to assist eventually.
I have 2 divisions at Colombo - the 18th ID & The 6th Australian division training for an invasion of Port Blair. I am ready to go now but air support would be much better. The timing of that invasion is dependent upon events in the near future as always.
