Mike:

Not the snorkel thing, but the "I can't detect a ship with anything except my periscope" problem. Someone else reported it in another thread.

I can post my scenario if you want to try it out. Right now, it is impossible to play as the sub side.

Yeah please post. There was an issue a build or two back but nothing current. You are using the latest correct?

Thanks!

Can't see anything wrong with submarines detecting surface vessels, Sink the Tblisi scn they pick them up easily enough, there's a few others where its only subs hunting and they pick up ships at decent ranges.

In the process of a run through from Russian side and looks very interesting.

Given this two run through's as USSR and its a real challenge. That's not a criticism its something that will appeal. I've yet to score a hit sadly on the US side, got close to an AS-6 impact on the Theodore Roosevelt, but failed miserably at the last hurdle.

All looks very nicely put together. I think the only thing that might need a look at is the scoring for Russia, I don't think you get a success or failure triggering as such. Not that my score really needs scoring though.

Who says war is fair? [:D]

You can get a success trigger, but you need to earn a bunch of points. Those points are hard to come by on the USSR side.

Thanks for the great feedback!

I haven't had a chance to try this one yet, but I did notice this (released on Feb. 1, apparently)...

Okay, maybe this is a coincidence, but given the guy's history you have to wonder...

Not sure its an issue, keep replaying this from Soviets and am determined to work out the perfect attack. It definitely does need to be the perfect attack too. Its a real challenge and it definitely doesn't pan out quite the way you'd expect. A very nice touch that the strategies I have worked out, using the range of the Badgers etc often seem to be countered by a well thought out trap on the way that I didn't anticipate.

The AI has been well set up for this one.

Mgellis,

Thanks for pointing that out. It sure looks like coincidence to me.

Okay, sounds good. It just seemed really odd that your scenario was released and then a few days later he does one like it for the Players Database, but maybe that's all it was. These things happen. As Freud once said, "Sometimes a banana is just a banana." :)

Its sometimes very tricky to fight with subs

My Rule of thumb is
To be at Shallow if you want to go after surface ships
Be above the layer to hunt subs
Be below the layer to hide from surface ships
Go as low as you can to avoid everything, or to transit

It's playable from both which is nicely done, though its a tough order of battle for USSR side to take on.

Mike,

See post 15 for the final version that allows play from both sides.

Yep, that's the one I grabbed...you guys are the best. I'm so glad I get to at these great scenarios. Too many stock scenarios were Ecuador vs Uraguay and stuff like that. Not enough varsity league scenarios from all of these great books

I think the 'Ecuador vs Uruguay' scenario was missing from my version. Where can I get it?

Lol... You guys are doing just fine. the underlying Game is superb and I spent a lot of time on this and other forms defending it. I'm just not a fan of some of the scenarios but that's my personal preference. I'm sure other people like them a lot I'm just happy that it's such a moddable game and that there are people out there who are putting together some awesome scenarios for your game

I think the 'Ecuador vs Uruguay' scenario was missing from my version. Where can I get it?

.my comments about the scenarios were in jest although I was a bit disappointed. Is there literally and Ecuador vs Uraguay? I don't know, but when I purchased this game day one, I was disappointed with the lack of Cold War gone not scenarios and future US v China or North more scenarios. There were many engagements between small nation in South America, several in Africa against pirates. There were 3 us v soviet, 2 falkland and 1 us v China...the rest were small battles between forces like Venezuela, Philippines, Somali pirates , etc.

So yeah, you basically got a lot of Ecuador v Uruguay scenarios.
Now, nowhere in that complaint did I call this game "bush league" or suggest that something was flawed with the game. In fact, I spent 3 days arguing with Herman Hum on how his review was flawed and unfair. I have always supported this game. In my opinion, most of the scenarios that came with this game were too small and irrelevant. I voiced that opinion and that was that.

I am glad to see modders creating the types of scenarios I was hoping for initially...like this one, some Red Storm Rising scenarios, etc. You know, battles in the larger war never fought. Hopefully others will design some great sea battles in Southeast Asia...possibly Japan v China would be timely.

So I meant no offense a out the game itself, I was disappointed with some of the scenarios

How come I have to wait 2 hours for any of my attack planes (f18 and a6) to be ready? Russians attacked my EA6b and shot it down initiating hostiies and I still have 1 hour and 35 minutes until I can launch anything!
