I have the feeling that this game is over and your opponents are just fish flopping out of water.

They state that they're trying to gain control. Problem is that they are still looking at immediate counter-punches (which can be OK) when they should be looking at creating a viable defense.

Combat Report
February 15, 1942

Haven't been able to do full combat reports due to working a crapload of hours. My Assistant Manager is on maturnity leave and this makes for a bit of excitement within hours at my business.

North Pacific
My opponents have moved a STF of 2 CL and 5 DD up here to try and disrupt my activities. They are in for a surprise! I am waiting for CV Junyo (due in 10 days) and will then send her and the two CVEs up there to plaster this TF. In reality the CV TF will be providing cover for the Landing at Cold Harbor by the Kawafuto Brigade.

Central Pacific
KB floats around behind the Midway--Johnston Line and is prepared to smash anything sent that way.

Midway and Johnston
Both have about 5,300 troops on them and Forts are steadily climbing. Have a Zero Daitai at both with a Daitai of Betty at Midway and a Chutai of Mavis at Johnston. Mines have now been laid at both locations. This netted an Allied SS almost immediately and that is nice.

SE Pacific
Pago Pago is going to be tough. Landed on the 13th with no discernable disruption to 2nd ID. The Allies launched an attack on the 15th and got a 1-15 result. I tried a Shock Attack on the 15th and got a 1-2 against Sz-2 Forts. Hmmm... Think I need to reload my BBs to land a couple of bombardments while using some CV bombers to help soften up the Marines there. Have two Ind Engineer Regiments that I could use but would prefer not. We'll give it some time.

Have Tahiti and the bases due north of there. Have a TF heading SSW to grab the one base there so I can effectively seal the map edge. A STF and the two CVLs are hunting a convoy trying to run west to New Zealand. YUMMY! The STF and CVLs account for an AVD, PC, and AMC this day.

South Pacific
Have taken Luganville and have a pair of Naval Guards approaching Efate. Will move Engineers and Base Forces here to prep for going after New Caledonia.

Have started to exert control of the air over Port Moresby. SMASHED a convoy unloading troops there today. Had 36 Betty-Nell hit from Rabaul and 12 Vals come down from Lae. Bagged 3 AK and damaged two more. NICE!

Australia
Operation Shimakaze is now fully underway. My Geraldton Invasion Force is ONE HEX away and not spotted by the enemy. Landing occurring tomorrow!

The Esperance Landing will take place in 2-3 days. This TF is not spotted either.

CARDIV2 arrives 3 hexes NW of Geraldton and does not give its presence away. This is GREAT due to watching a TF depart Perth and another approaching Perth. We gonna bag another batch of ships tomorrow! My SS have a field day sinking ships here today.

Java
Have got the island from Djokjakarta west. So far I've only needed an Inf Brigade and Infantry Division to take this much.

Burma
Captured Port Blair a few days ago.

The Imperial Guards has moved from there and unloaded at Rangoon. It is getting ready to ride the rails to Meiktila. They will then advance and take Mandalay.

China
All goals met in this Theatre. Am re-setting troops and moving them about. REALLY NEED to fill my garrison levels. Am losing a point or two a day until this is done.

SS Action
I-162 SINKS AK Varsava near Perth.
I-122 SINKS AMC Hector near Diamond Harbor
I-164 SINKS AK Jalakrishna AND AK Mulbera near Perth

Problem is that they didnt have the knowledge or experience to play the guy who wrote the scenario.

That much is TRUE! I thought they would be do OK since they had both played RA as well as helped in the major rewrite of the Mod with 6.0. I was mistaken.

I don´t think its so much the MOD to be honest. They simply need more experience and most importantly play smarter. They were given lots of advice in their AAR but decided not to listen to any and just play on as they did.

Whats the VP score?

The Allied position is precarious, but salvageable. I'll take over "IF" they throw in the towel. [:)]

What about after they lose those carriers? I think that might be the towel if John pulls it off.

John and I are good friends. We know each other well, but the Allies can always come back from almost near disasters early in the war. You beat John on the ground mainly.

DAMN straight on THAT Michael!

If they quit I don't want to. The Japanese situation is fantastic but the Allied position is completely workable. Remember that they have only lost CV Enterprise. I'd be concerned over the number of cruisers lost but it is not the end of the Allied world.

Joc is right in that many people (including me) have offered all sorts of advice and I think it has fallen on reasonably deaf ears.

VP Score: Japan 16,049 Allies 7,646

Yes, the allies can recover from everything except one thing...

..autovictory. [;)] And looking at those figures its certainly a possibility. Especially since they seem to just play on without learning from their mistakes nor changing their MO.

Combat Report
February 16, 1942

The dice land on the table with a LOUD thunk!

Geraldton
The Japanese Invasion Force is not spotted until it begins unloading its troops at the earliest possible phase of the 16th's turn. The 3 embedded CAs POUND the Aussie resistance and cause 803 initial casualties. Looks like the CD unit and a Base Force present. Two complete Inf Div, a Para unit, and 9 other units storm ashore. We'll take the base tomorrow...

Pull the Invasion Force out of aircraft strike range. They will respond but the question with how much? I get all the troops ashore on the 16th and still have 60,000+ supply on board. I want ALL of those supplies safely unloaded!

Esperance
This TF poses the true treat to the Allied position. It is not spotted this day. We are D-2 from landing.

Air Bridge
Three Base Forces sit in Denpasar with 54 Zero and 81 Transport planes ready to hop to Broome. At Broome is the 11th Air Fleet (currently unloading) and--finally--we have the Air Division and 3 Base Forces waiting to takeover the Airfield.

At Sea (near Perth)
A STF of CL Minase and 4 DD tangle with 3 Dutch DDs. Witte de With is sunk and Piet Hein/Kortenaer are probably sunk in the action.

CARDIV2 announces its presence by launching a small strike of 21 Zero and 10 Val hitting two AKs moving away from Perth. I don't have to protect the Geraldton Invasion Force right now so CARDIV2 makes a solid move to stay within strike range of the fleeing Allied ships.

Looking pretty darned good at this point. Screenshot:

With the amount of PBY's I have destroyed, I doubt if there are too many left...

The short answer to the question is NO>

As Allied player, I tend to train up my Hudson for NavS while the Wirraway go for ASW skill. Later, I can add a second skill.

Where are the ABDA P-40E fighter groups and A-24 Banshee??

This is starting to look a bit like the game a while back where you took OZ and sank half the Allied navys.

Start prepping for LA now! [:D]

Think you are correct.

As to Michael's question, the A-24s put in an appearance from Port Moresby about a month ago when they damaged 3 CAs. Have not seen them since. Not sure about the P-40s...

Where the Japanese look to be in fantastic shape right now, if something isn't done pretty quick it will totally spin out of control.

From the beginning, the plan is NOT to take all of Aussieland. Simply want to isolate it and starve them. Once Perth falls there is a SECRET Japanese plan to put even more fuel on the fire while we beef up and prepare the Pacific outposts for the inevitable counterattack.

New Hunting Grounds

Post by John 3rd »

February 17-18,1942

The landing at Geraldton stirs the Allies up! The troops easily take the city from two Base Forces and a CD unit. The TF that brought all those troops moves away from Geraldton this day so we can deliver 68,000 supplies in peace later.

Without needing to protect the transports, CARDIV2 (Hiryu--Soryu--Shoho--Zuiho) move due east and engages a large number of fleeing Allied AKs. Four strikes are flown on the 17th sinking 16 large AKs. NICE! A STF of 2 CA and 3 DD add another pair to make 17 AKs sunk. The 18th sees further movement away from Australia and three strikes flown. Down goes another 8 AK making the two day score 25 ships.

NICE!
