RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse
The Germans will eventually power their way through the French, but it will likely take until 1941.

Yes. Unless they get hideous luck (which I've only ever seen happen once - the French survived) then the Germans WILL prevail. They just need patience, and luck and accept that, in this game, there is no 1941 Barbarossa.

The Germans literally have one bomber left (two if they use the Me-110). They decide to forego a ground strike.
They get units into position to attack the forest hex northeast of Reims. The best they can do is get a 2:1 (no modifiers).....
The Germans simply cannot afford a 1,2 or 3 or they will not only lose the battle, but be in danger of a swift counter-attack.
The Japanese have the same issue, but at least their armour units are just one impulse away from getting involved.
What a rubbish impulse...

This will be another quick one.
The Royal Navy have only just realised they have valuable Dutch shipping still holed up in Rotterdam - but realised after the CW naval phase [&:]
The British consider a Strategic Bombardment, but think better of it - maybe nearer the end of the turn - they may still need those valuable bombers.
The French further bolster their defences, removing an Artillery Division from the Maginot line and placing it west of Metz.
And that, as they say, is that.

Well that ended that....
The Allies have a 30% chance of ending the turn if they all pass. With nothing to do, there is no reason not to....
...but its a roll of 9 and it does not end. Furthermore the weather roll is a 5 and everywhere is Fine once more.

The Germans continue to eye up the forest hex in the south west corner of Belgium. They go for a ground strike with their 150mm Artillery Division. They achieve disorganisation of General Georges - well 1 out of 3 ain't bad.

Adolf's nerves fail him. At 2:1, even with the +1 there is the fear that a 1 or 2 will be rolled. Moreover is the realisation that even a victory without loss would still mean the Germans not being able to advance because of the counter attack. They pull out of the attack.

Not so the Japanese. They are going for it! Four attacks [X(] This could kill the Nationalist Chinese in one turn - or kill the Japanese

Umezu will try and use HQ support for the attack in the mountains
Bomber aircraft are sent in for the attacks against Changsha and the resource hex to the southwest. This will change the Japanese odds from "scary as £$%^" to "slightly less scary, but frankly not much".
The Chinese fighter cannot intervene.

Here goes.....
1. Umezu's HQ support bid fails spectacularly [8|]
The odds are 2:1 no modifiers on the assault table....
...quality, absolute quality. The Japanese throw a 10 for HQ Support and a 1 for the attack.... Two divisions are lost and all units disorganised.

Yamamoto uses his points to reorganise some units. A 9 is thrown and the turn continues.
Back in Tokyo, the Prime Minister Hideki Tojo announces to the Diet that:
"The war situation has developed - ahem...not necessarily to Japan's advantage" he said grimly. "I was saving that speech for if we lost a big naval battle against the US, but after throwing a 1 and a 2 on 2:1 attacks, I think I should use it now....".

It's time (or past time) to pick some US entry options. You need tension. Which options have you picked already?ORIGINAL: warspite1
