CW and France each send a fighter to intercept the German bombers. Germany counter intercepts the British fighter with a Bf-109 and the French fighter with a Bf-110. France will have the advantage in the upcoming air combat. [X(]

The air combats ended in a big nothing at all. All fighters aborted in the first round. France take comfort in that their fighter survived because Germany had a twin-engine fighter as their front fighter. That changed a DX to a AA.

The first ground strike is considered a success with one hit.

Japan rail their second marine to China. Both are rumoured to have been sent to China because of the partisan threat.

Germany had done all its land movements. The units in Poland and Belgium had moved so I was just about to end the step when I stopped in the last second. Didn't I declare war on Denmark? That I did and I was so close in ignoring them. Fortunately, the units designated to handle the Danish issue received their order and that should be that. Unfortunately the two Danish cruisers sailed to UK. But the convoy point remained.

Germany decide to go for a high risk approach in Belgium and launch two attacks hoping that it will gain a high yield. At the same time I had doubts wether to attack Lodz or not. I do not like that negative modifier to attack Lodz. But since I do risky attacks in Belgium I can do it in Poland as well. Rolling several ones on the attack rolls now will be devastating.

Edit: Note that the 1st engineer is doubled and give benefit to two other corps attacking accross the river.

Poland decide to give HQ support to the Lodz defenders. CW and France decline to give HQ support. Both Poland and CW fly support with all available aircraft. Luftwaffe sends up their renowned Bf-109 and intercept both the Polish and the CW aircraft.

The air combat over Lodz ends with all aircraft aborted.

The air combat over Brussels see the German Bf-109 shot down in flames while only the lousy one strength LND2 gets aborted for CW. Three points added to Brussels in defensive ground support.

Göring is not happy!

The attack against Brussels is a success although all the German troops are disorganized.

I managed to blunder with the picture that I had planned to post here. The attack was 4-1 +1 assault and the die rolled was a 6, modified to 7, and the combat result -/1S. Instead I post a picture of the advance after combat.

In my current game I attacked Denmark early game with similar units, except div went to Frederikshavn... Not a good idea. Belgium or France was not in danger yet (all my other units were in Poland and Balkans) so CW had no problem bringing units on next impulse to adjanced hex and kill my div in Frederikshavn. Little later they had 2 corps and a div in both end of that damn island.

What should I do? I was busy planning attack to Netherlands and Belgium. I took 4 coprs (combat values 7 7 5 5) artillery (3) and one div. During winter it was not possible to attack. When I invaded Belgium CW took half of their force to France leaving Frederikshavn guarded with MOT (7) London MIL (5) and AA gun (2). During winter I sent my fleet to Baltic Sea getting ready to give some support. I also took one Stuka, one Dornier and one Bf109 to Denmark. I can tell you they were much needed in France (CW supported France with 5 res each turn from the start)...

First attack on M/J with all my forces were not very good, both sides lost 1 unit (CW killed MIL). I had to bring one more MIL (5) for the next turn. On M/J CW also rebased naval bomber to Denmark and sunk my 3 CP at Baltic Sea.

Finally on J/A CW troops in Denmark were killed and there were no more German losses. Denmark was pain in my a** for entire year! Luckily it did not affect too much to my game. At the end of J/A Yugoslavia and Greece were conquered. France survived but Paris +1 hex was surrounded.

Lesson learned. I will be more careful next time I attack Denmark :)

Rydz succeed with the HQ support (20% chance) and reduce the odds on the Lodz attack by one but that did not matter since the air support was aborted. A 6 to 1 attack was reduced to 5 to 1 and that makes no difference at all. Lodz was captured with a die roll of 6 (modified to a 5) and all the German attackers were disorganized. Poland will live to fight another turn.

Thank you for sharing. [:)]

CW units in the north of Denmark can be a pain. How they should be handled have been debated and I am not sure if a consensus has been achieved. At the moment I lean towards containing them there and deal with them later while using a FTR2 and a NAV3 to try and protect the Baltic convoy points. Or something like that. But that would probably change once I actually had them there. CW units in mainland Europe is usually like waving a red flag in front of me when I play Germany.

The German ATR3 reorganize a MECH.

Rundstedt reorganize one Stuka and 4 land units.

I am troubled. Poland survive to next turn. Germany has spend an offensive chit. That is all good but I am still troubled. The turn has no chance to end yet. Not even with passing. And the situation in Belgium looks frail to me. No reserves whatsoever. I am not even sure if bad weather can remedy the situation. I am troubled.

Not sure what to do now. I know that there is no option but to fight on. But how to fight on is the question. And beside the dangerous situation in Belgium both France and CW has a need to make at least one more naval move this turn. Curses.

It is not as much as I play that bad. It is more that my opponent outsmart me. [;)]

Or it could be as simple as that he rolls to high on the important die rolls. [:D]

I am glad that I have your support Warspite1. [:)]

No declarations of war.

CW and France select a land impulse.

No port strikes. No naval air. No naval movement. No strategic bombing. No ground strikes.

USSR rail a garrison to Vilna.

France reorganize their defences by moving the artillery units out from the Maginot line and withdrawing the cavalry corps from the Italian border. The motorized corps is ordered to delay the German advance through Belgium. The new main French line is now in the homeland. After moving the French land units I realized that CW should have picked a combined instead. Bah! [:@]

Onwards to move the few CW land units.

I am interested to see how others deal with the Sino-Japanese war. I just cannot seem to get decent attacks going - especially once the Chinese are in the mountains.

Yes, that's indeed a problem for the Japanese. What Japan needs to have in the first couple of turns is patience. He needs to send everything over to China and build "boots on the floor". The more the better, since you need them as loss takers (especially the lousy MIL and TERR).

I don't think any attack on China should be considered, if that attack is below 3-1 in the first couple of turns...
