Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.
If I transfer these pilots to an airbase with planes, will they be able to fly other groups planes?Am I missing something here?
There is 1 plane in this group.
This is intentional simplification done to make it easier to rebase empty air groups. Yes, it looks unrealistic, but it can be treated as "compensation" for the absence of reactive rebase in case of air field bombardment. The same kind of abstraction is when you rebasing damaged planes. We decided not to create sub-units as it would add another complexity layer.
It may change in the future as we add more features.
I am being dense here, Helpless. I don't understand your response to the original poster's question. What is the answer to their question if they can transfer pilots from one airbase to another, and have those pilots fly planes from this new airbase group. Is that the question? I don't see how your response answered that.
So, since there is only one plane at this airfield in the screenshot above, and there are 40 pilots, what can you do to make these pilots useful, if you cannot move them?
The pilots always stay with the unit, so either you need to find a way to get more aircraft into the unit, or you can disband the unit so the pilots will become available for other units to use. So if moving the unit will make it more likely it will get replacements (I don't know if this is the case), you could do this and the pilots will go with the unit.
All understanding comes after the fact.
