I think it would be nice to see a PBEM game pick up a second player for a side sometime about late 42 to early 43 with each playing the same opponent. I would want to see how two different players take their current position to conclusion without knowing what that other player was doing. In your game Lowpe, you had another Japanese player start when you did vs same Allied player and see what happened.

You mean like "splitting" a game? Say 2 players start and play up to say 1/43 and then a second pair of players take up the same save and both pairs play from the same game but parallel of each other?

Not quite Jocke. I would like to see a third player come in when you mentioned. So one side would have two separate players taking on another player. Just want to see how players would do things differently, especially for us in the cheap seats watching the game in multiple AARs. It would be hard for those posting in the AARs not to mention things going on in the other AAR, but I would love to watch it happen. [:)]

That would be really different. And interesting. Especially if the speed of the game turnarounds was off which might give an interesting twist for the Allies or an outright advantage for them.

Ah, I see. So for example the Jap player would play two different allied players from the same save? The original allied player and then a second one who jumped in and started playing a parallel game?

That would be pretty cool. [:)]

Exactly!! Rather than be an "Armchair Admiral" somebody jumps in and sees if their execution of the war is better than the original player from say 1 Jan 43.

That would be cool. But very taxing on the player having two opponent. Doing more then one turn per day would be pretty impossible. [:)]

I think it would be pretty cool to see a completely parallel game as well (as what I first thought you meant). That shouldn´t be to hard to set up either. Just need an allied and Jap player and another "couple" willing to share their save.

I hope it was only a one time thing, but when loading the replay and then turn, i got this message which I've never seen before - "Link/Zone Data Differs - Continue." If not, I'll seek clarification in Tech Support section.
My guess is that it's telling you that something in your data set is different from the data set of the person who last saved the game (your opponent). I've seen similar messages for pwhex data (now a set of three files), but it said something like "pwhex data". You guys can check by doing this:
- Open a Command Prompt window (basically that's like the DOS prompt).
- Using the "cd" (i.e. change directory) command, navigate to the main AE folder for the installation you are using (some people have multiple installations to cover different PBMs).
- Type "dir > playername.txt", substituting whatever you want for 'playername'.

That will make a plain text file called playername.txt with the directory listing. You can all do this and email them to each other, and check for differences. If there was a message about scenario data then you could do the same thing after navigating to the SCEN sub-folder (sub-directory).

BTW I just tested those instructions to make sure they work.

Woohoo! Someone who knows how to navigate in DOS! You are dating yourself (and me)! [:D]
Can this not be done using Windows Explorer to navigate to the game directory, and then opening up a "notebook" text editor window?

Not that I know of. The trick is the ">" in the right place tells the command interpreter "take the output of the command (in this case 'dir') and write to the file whose name comes next". When you have Windows Explorer open to the right place, you can certainly see the right information, but getting it into a file is the trick. AFAIK if you select a bunch of file names and 'copy', it wants to copy the actual files, not the display that you are looking at.

And is isn't really DOS, it's Windows command shell (maybe not the official title), but I figured that wording would get the point across better. [:D]

Hah, Even I know how to use DOS. Remember doing my own BAT files for each game I had so I would get the most performance out of it! [:D]

Besides being a week or more behind on my update, my tower failed to power up Easter morning. [:(] Thus, we are hold until I can get it fixed (dropping it of today). I turned it off like I almost always do at night and now nothing. [:@]

Tower is now at "Computer Pros" in town. The guy says the power supply often go or the capacitors on the mother board. Since I spent 12 plus years as electronics technician, I think its the power supply. Hopefully, the bill is around $100.

This morning, I fired up my long dormant laptop. I knew its been a while since I used it, but not this long....Nov 2012! [X(] Its doing Windows updates....118 of them now. [:D] I'm in office doing paperwork I usually do at home. Next, is to figure out how to get Norton Anti-Virus to update. I use it on tower and laptop, but need to find out how to reactivate the one on laptop.

Meanwhile, for those of you living in California...we have rain and more rain here in NE Tenn today.

Good luck getting back up and running. Frustrating.

I've got a new laptop to use but still haven't taken the time to get up to speed on Windows 8, and don't like what I see so it's hard to start in on it. Then getting the game going and make sure that works. Might just downgrade to Win 7 and go with what I know.

I picked up a WIN 8.1 laptop a few months ago. Hate the OS, but managed to get AE to run fine without speed issues.

Then one day it downloaded an automatic update that errored out in the install and caused 90% of the keys on the board to no longer register keystrokes.

After 2+ hours in chat with technical support and no joy I decided to mothball it until they release Win 10.

I am running Win 7 on my tower and the game has no problems running on it - unless it is an operator-induced problem!
I do need to quit the game occasionally and restart it to keep the speed up, but I think that is in the nature of a database type program that stores all the changes in memory until you exit the program, even if you have been saving the game regularly.
