Geez… You really loaded up the red airbases north of Hokido in the second version… And why is that one base a single unit field I can't even pick targets out on it.... When I attacked them it's like I hit a hornets nest with a stick..... I think I'm going to nuke them…

Yokes,

Gee thanks, I guess I won't be sleeping tonight. *joking*

All the hard work is appreciated, though I will be up all night trying this one again! Thanks.

^^^I got stuck on it till five in the morning last night… I downloaded that ParkControl app and it really helped the game run smoother… But I may start this thing over from the beginning… It's work but it's fun....

So after having a relatively easy time with the battle of the first salvo in the Med, I thought I would give this one a try next. Boy. What a difference, in both size and complexity!!!!

I've started this one a couple of times now and have a question for the scenario author or others that have played it. Has anyone ever had any success in keeping the US Japan bound convoy alive? In the first 15 minutes, this poor convoy is set upon by 30 ASM and two subs. Of the four frigates, only the Perry class has any Anti-air capability and with the one ASW helicopter not ready for 30 minutes, nothing survives that long. Is this convoy meant to be slaughtered or is there some secret to defeating the air and sub attack that my limited naval skills are just missing! [&:]

It's meant to die. I think it adds a nice "welcome to the war" feeling. It also always pisses me off (even though I know what's going to happen) and motivates me to sink Russian ships with extreme prejudice.

Not once. I had a Knox (Badger?)survive the ASM strikes once, but was then killed by subs nearly immediately afterward. It's always a slaughter, otherwise.

As it was a very artificial situation… I changed it so it had a chance to survive by adding more realistic escorts…

If you turn the convoy south at the start of the scenario, go to flank speed and put all escorts at the rear of the convoy, the escorts will soak up all ASM's and the freighters will get of without a scratch...

Do they get away from the subs, too?

yes, the subs can only do 18-19 knots max and if you run away from them at 20 knots they just eat dust...

I have tried this twice now and it worked both times.

Its easy to check for yourself, open the scenario in the editor and delete everything besides the bombers and the convoy. If you run this scenario then at 60X, you will see this result for yourself within a minute or two of actual run time.
