T05 Leningrad

The Pskov region was protected until the german 16th and 18th arrived. Troops from the Leningrad and Northern front fall back to the Luga line, and start building their main defense line, protecting the city of Leningrad.
4 Army defend the way, plus one start building forts behind.
All HQ-s have 3 sapper regiment and 1-2 RR SU. 20-25 of the divisions was set to reserve.

60 % transport rate creates hard decisions, so I must defend the way, becuse it's impossible to evacuate the industry on T06-10.

T05 Moscow

The german spearhead try to take Velikie Luki, so I start giving up territories, and build fortifications on difficult terrain.
However, the troops are freshly recruited, and the commanders are useless. I need at least 75-100 AP to change them.

T05 Ukraine

12-14 german mot/pz division moved to take D-town, but they are far from supply lines, and the german infantry troops are far from the panzers.
I believe the air supply transports won't help the german efforts.
Without the FBD5 unit, it's hard.

Around D-town, useful soviet leaders, and numerous reserved units try to stop the attack. Just line around Leningrad all HQ-s have the maximum number of sapper regiments and 1-2 RR brigade.

However, I can only start evacuating the D-town industries, because I'm lack of transports. Kiev has the full number of industrial capacity, just line Odessa.
My looses are heavy, 10 HI, 10 ARM, and Kiev, Odessa and D-town could be locked.

Really your so so wrong

There is a very simple work around of which I have posted and given to more then one player.

Not sure why Russian players simply don't use Flaviusx industry evac plan.

You people really make things to easy being greedy.

Also how many manpower centers can you evac?

Looking at the map, Pitaman seems to be all in for Leningrad. He has considerably reinforced AGN and weakened AGC.

Maybe it's a mirror of his game against Pelton where, as russian, he created a wall of iron in the north and lost the game in the center/South.

Germany simply needs to take what Russia gives them.

They want to hold Leningrad simply take Moscow

Hi Pelton.

The game set up allows me only 60 % transport capacity, what is around 80k point. So, the old plans don't work, and need sacrifice.

About FBD 5! What do you mean? How you boost the rail repair effort with only 4 FBD?

The loss of FBD 5 makes the critical AGN/AGS connection more difficult but still doable by late mud (first period) or early winter. I double my 2 AGN FBD's heading to Vilnius and at 61.49 head one north and route the other thru Vitebsk heading toward Smolensk. Wise placement of Army HQ's loaded with repair units will start the slow process of extending the rail network south toward Kiev and later toward Mogilev. At some point I take the FBD heading to Leningrad (sooner than later) and send it to hookup with AGS, usually via Gomel.

I send both AGC and AGS's FBD to Rumania. One is aimed at Kiev via Chernotsky and the other via the shortest route to D-town. As in the north I strategically place Army HQ's crammed full with RR to fill in the Lvov to Kiev hookup and start the creeping of railheads north toward Smolensk.

Also thr FBD thru Smolensk heads south (again sooner than later.) A big surge past Leningrad or east toward Moscow with tie up those FBD's extension of both railnets, but eventually will focus on the north/south connection.

That means not sending a FBD directly to Minsk. It's not efficient to do so.

Does anyone disagree ??

T08 Leningrad front

The german forces crossed the Luga river, and try to reach the city from the heavy western side of the region. The defense lines are tough, and there is just minimal chance to encircle massive troops, so the area is secured, and Leningrad won't fall this year.
6 soviet army, with 60+ division must be enough, to protect the city.

T08 Central/Moscow front

The german panzers crosed the Dnyepr line, and the southern wing of defense line collapsed. The shortest way is secured, but need to build a new defense line, protecting Moscow. The newly formed Bryansk front will be in a big trouble (next turn), if the german will move south, abandon his direct attack on Moscow. The current situation seem like was in 1941 august, when the german 2nd panzer army moved south, encircled Kiev.

T08 South

The german forces are far from their supply lines, and D-town remains on soviet hands. The german 6th army try to capture Kiev, and some units fights in the swamp area, the 11th army captured Odessa last turn, so the 17th and 1st panzer army seems to be not enough to break the soviet lines.
Maybe the supply line will power up the inactive german army.

The reserve cavalry units kills all german attack efforts, and after numerous held results, Pitaman attack deliberate, and flip only a small number of hex.

I'm not sure where are his rail lines on south, but after numerous recon tryout, I belive he not use FBD-s on south.

T08 casualty, JOB, production list

I'm under 1200k looses, and my troops just growing higher. My goal are to be under 2 million of looses. No HIWIs, strong winter forces...

T09 North

The soviet slowly retreat, and counterattack the german forces. Heavy fights, massive german panzer looses and few territorial gain, giving the german 4th panzer army, and the 16th, 18th army hard task.
However, the tougher, and concentrated german troops move closer and closer to Leningrad. The area need heavy reinforcements next turn, if STAVKA want to prevent, or hold german attack.

The northern german forces had 9 motorized/panzer division, and 22 identified infantry division. The Northern have 38 division and a small number of naval brigades, and Northwestern soviet front have 42 division.

T09 center

The weakest german army group drives south, with all of his panzers, and try flanking the moscow area. But after one critical soviet counterattack, 6 german division was encircled, slowing their next turn attack.

The german central front could be divided by two sub army groups, Center A and B.

Center A have 17 infantry division, facing against the Reserve front, and Moscow MD. Those two fronts have 45 division, what is enough preventin any major attack, without panzer supports, force the germans into a static line.

The center B area has 14 german infantry and 8 mot/pz division, against Western and Bryansk Fronts 69 division. However, next turn the german will encircle 5 of them, but the frontlines seems to be stabile. Next turn half of the reinforcement will move on that area, and the major goal is to halt, and protect Tula, Bryansk, and of course Moscow.

T09 South

On southern part, the german southern arm group are still divided into 3 parts, South A, B and C.
South B is the attacking forces, powered by 13 mot/pz division and 18 infantry division. 10 Rumanian infantry division, and cavalry brigades gives support those efforts.
Against the main german attacking forces, the Causasus MD and Southern fronts faceing with 64 division, in well fortified positions, plus the Dnieper river, controlling the left side of the river.
However, against the german armed forces that won't be enough, but I can buy one or maybe two turns, slowing the german efforts.

South A, with 18 german and 2 slovak division guarding the river line. On the other side, the Southwestern front fight with 39 division.

South C, is the farest, and weakest attacking forces, powered by 6 german division and 9-10 rumanian unit. Against them only 8 soviet division, and several para and infantry brigades stand.

Germany is toast at this point.

Not much of a game really and you have +1 heheheeh, you will be in Romania if you have any blizzard skills at all. If not early 44.

Its hard to find a good German player.

The German side has a very steep learning curve, most players just give up or go back to playing Russia.

Very nice AAR and you really did not need the extra rule set, .05 nerfs whatever logistics freedom Germany had so playing Germany will be very hard even for and old fart like me.

The +1 doesn't really count. During my 9 turn, soviets only 6-7 time attacked the germans. It was a bigger mistake, when Pitaman sent around 8-10 infantry division into the swamp area, with no real task. The other huge mistake was when I stretch the front line, the german protect his flank with numerous divisions, and right now, only the panzer/motorized troops attack, loosing significant number of tanks, fatigue, etc...

General question, about the game:

Somebody knows, what is the average vehicile pool on T10? And it's not a bug, when the soviet side gain extra 20 000 truck due mobilization?

Quiet on the Eastern

Post by Callistrid »

T10 Full front

Quiet on the Eastern front.

I. The german forces clean the way around Bryansk, and the soviet forces retreat into a better position. The way of Moscow is well fortified, and only the southern roads are less protected against the 3rd Panzer army. The interesting question is what will the 3rd panzer army do? Their power are not enough to attack Moscow or Tula, so they could drive south, threatening Kiev.

II. On south, the 2nd and 1st panzer army still not crossed the river, but the supply lines moves closer, and closer. However, this frontline is stabile, and lvl 2 forts protect the left side of the river. Kiev is still in soviet hand, just like D-town. Next turn the STAVKA reserves 13 infantry division will be send, reinforceing the southern front, and protect the major manpower centers, and industrial area.

III. Around Leningrad the best german infantry troops, supported by the 4th panzer army, moves closer to the city. The only soviet counterattack failed this turn, against 3 stack, 30 CV strong german spearhead. The city is not in a big danger, the defense line are well protected, troops are in save, but the german supply lines are close, 3-4 far from the front line.
Tallin is in soviet hands, but would be an ugly move sending 2-3 cavalty unit, and threat the Pskov supply line... so just protect the city against 3 german security regiment.

IV. The soviet air recon spotted the entire german divisional position, identified 30 german pz/mot division, and 106 german inf/MT/cav division. Only one motorized, and one german infantry divisions position was not located.

V. My T10 looses was extremely low, only 30k men from atriction, and 10k from combat looses. The soviet army is around 4900k men. Casulties are under 1300k.
Soviets collect 150k men from manpower centers.
