No, it is what you say, it is what it is... And I'll keep hammering until it is over one way or the other because that's my job playing the evil empire
Yes, this is the right attitude. As long as you're still actively trying to win this game is still interesting and should not end. Still plenty of opportunities for the Allies to get some cheap shots in like they can in early 42.

P.S. I hope my posting isn't getting me into trouble. If my own PBEM would pick up, I'd be running turns, not posting much in other AAR's. [:D]
My thoughts are that it is fine to comment on the style of another persons play as long as you're being honest. If you are going out there and writing an AAR you are inviting people to comment on anything related to the game including the play of each player. If Mundy's or someone else's feelings get hurt from an honest comment about their style so be it. You're not attacking his actual person; only his in-game persona. Totally different things. If people are getting their feelings hurt by it well then maybe they shouldn't be so emotionally invested in this game.

Still, it's very hard not to feel sorry for him.

He is obviously playing his heart out at it and failing time and time again.

It gets painful to watch at times.

His indomitable spirit is certainly admirable.

You deserve to be commended for your ongoing efforts to assist him with your analysis and advice.

It is getting painful, but I will bet good money that next game for Mundy will be very different. He's learned about Japanese air power into 43. He's learned what Japan can do with the economic system in the hands of a good player (early Tojos for example). He's learned to build up bases he probably would have never dreamed needed building up, like Brisbane. He's learned not to put valuable assets close to the front (or multiple fronts, in this case).

My hope is your opponent will not be upset by any criticism of play style in this AAR. Like Hans said, questioning play style is not questioning who he is as a person.

As the opponent in a long running and what seems to be a well read ARR (witpqs' Rumble in the Southwest), when I finally get to read it, I fully expect to see people questioning many of my moves and my play style. This would include things like "What the heck was he thinking!?!?" or "Certainly he has research XXX aircraft already! Why is he still flying that POS!?!?!" or "Did he really leave that base completely undefended!?!?!?" (I know this one will be there related to CRB since it is exactly what I thought at the time). I don't think I will let these things get to me. I have pretty tough skin. I know I have had some pretty colossal screw ups but I own those completely. I played the game the way I did and have had a lot of fun over the last 4 years and counting. This is what is really important. I just wish RL would get out of the way so I could send more turns.

No doubt I have a lot of sympathy for him. I've been in similar positions before...though since then I've learned my lesson and avoid those mistakes. As you say his courage is admirable and I know that if I were in his shoes I'd have thrown in the towel long ago.

But no, I don't deserve to be commended though I appreciate the gesture. I'm just procrastinating at work!

I hope so. Though I know still has more lessons to learn in this current game. I can tell he still has these grand notions of Allied superiority (or perhaps Mundy superiority) that contradict the facts on the ground. The gap between expectation and reality is narrowing yet but it's still there. Each time CF beats Mundy down he's becoming more humble and more realistic.

Getting thoroughly and totally trashed is a right of passage in this game! [:D] Hard to avoid, and it happens to the best of players - dare I say to everyone. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

Embrace the carnage, because at some point you will be dishing it out too! Hopefully.

Plus, everything can be a learning experience. Saving ships, daring withdraws, etc., etc. You can have fun in defeat, if you define victory narrowly enough...can I save this particular ship, etc.

Definitely go for Jets...fielding five hundred or so can really make you smile in 45.

Interesting combat result... P47s show up covering TFs unloading at Vava'u.. The A6Ms prevent fighters from intercepting bombers but... 35:1 is a steep price.. I'll have to suspend operations... This serves as a wake up call... Accept the reduced range and high service rating of George fighters..

I think we all like to see fun and competitive games, not one sided blowouts. Then again, someone has to win.

Very true. Normally I'd prefer seeing the Allies do the blowing out, but I have to applaud Cannonfodder's play. Especially since it tends to confirm my belief that the war-winning move was for the Japanese NOT to do the Pearl harbor attack.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

It is becoming harder to gain the upperhand in surface combat. IJN cruisers go in but only do limited damage before allied ships slip away (influence of radar?)

Wow, what happened with that naval strike? I have never seen such a high percentage of fighters outright destroyed against such a limited number of fighters. And half of the Allied fighters were P-40Es which are inferior to the A6M3a which makes it an even more impressive feat. Either way, you likely sunk The CL Detroit and got the job done. I would not reduce range like you suggest. Because battles like this where you trade planes and pilots for ships are going to help you win the game in the end. You need to be launching spoiler attacks whenever possible to preserve your advantage at sea.

I haven't seen something like this happen before either. The allied fighters went full for the escorts and really tore into them....

Was about to fall asleep when I got suspicious about heavy rain fall and an untrustworthy drainage.. Turns out I was right, water came pooring in. We managed to limit the flow but I think we need to buy new towels...

Now I'm awake, a beer in my hand. Girlfriend cursed the house but it is really only the second incident where we have some damage in six years.. That is not to bad for a house that is over a century old...

Glad you caught the leak in time!

I, too, was curious about the air attack. I would gladly trade fighters like that to get the bombers thru.

I have had it happen once or twice, but have no clue on how to get it to repeat.

Experience differential perhaps, who really know?

This AAR is not being maintained.. However, I was curious if I established some sort of record for most B29s (or at least 4 engine bombers) shot down in a day?

That's a crazy number of B-29s lost! I wouldn't be surprised if that is a new record. You are really making Mundy bleed fighting for India.

Nicely done! That's a huge victory right there. Where were the Allied CVs during this exchange?

Yeeeouch! You're definitely hitting the Jeep carriers hard. Where is the Death Star and why is he escorting with just CVEs? Or rather not placing the DS out in front?

Keep it up!

From Mundy's AAR it seems that the KB attacked from the north east of Wake. Putting the DS in front would not have helped!
