Well according to the Daily Mail - breaking now - he's GONE!

Seems so. But who do they intend to replace him with? Maybe Brendan is back in with a chance?

warspite1

You'd love that wouldn't you [:D]

och I just feel his 'philosophy' needs a wider audience than the east end of Glasgow.

Anyway Big Sam can leave proud of his work - he is statistically the most successful England manager ever.

As someone who was quite happy he got the job I am still staggered by the stupidity, naivety and greed of the man...

He was so made up - like a little boy - when he got the job. Apart from reaching the pinnacle of his profession - managing the England team - he was getting £3m per annum plus bonuses for doing so. Yet he decides to throw it all away by getting involved in some grubby deal to earn a bit more wonga. Madness.

Angry, sad, depressed - I don't know which is the stronger emotion at the moment [&:]

I think angry should be the right thing here. Followed by disappointed.

agree - seems the Telegraph has material on 6-8 other managers with a taste for a bit of extra earning to supplement their salaries when they set up transfers.

more pleasantly, good result by Spurs last night but CSKA's performance did indicate that Russian football is in a bad state (in effect their performance in the Euros was not a fluke or accident)?

Yes - a good result in an intimidating atmosphere. But as you say the state of Russian football means that we should not get too excited.

Tottenham still worry me - we are not fast enough, do not seek the incisive pass. On the odd occasion we actually we do, we show what we can do - that goal was worthy of the German national team. Alderweirald with an incisive, accurate forward pass along the ground to Lamela that by-passed the Russian midfield and (for once) Lamela did the right thing and made a beautiful pass to allow Son's excellent run behind the defence to be rewarded with a goal. We need more of that and less side to side slow...slow...side [>:]

For a side that consistently has so much possession we find scoring goals soooo difficult. And what is it with our centre forwards??? Soldado was an expensive dud and Janssen (admittedly a better footballer) is showing signs of going the same way... Let's hope Pochettino gives him some proper game time to see if he can get going.

Also whenever Tottenham score we always seem to lose our heads, suddenly forget how to pass and retain possession and gift the opposition a chance to get back in the game. Strange.

But some positives - I thought N'Koudou was quality last night and Harry Winks (how old is he - shouldn't he be in school?) while he didn't do anything special, he was assured on the ball and didn't do anything stoopid.

So if I well understood, Allardici's salary was 3 million. And he was hoping to earn an extra 400.000. Greed does indeed describe the reality, no insult here [:D]

Sam Allardyce for England?

Please no!

I really cannot believe that the FA think this is a good idea, I'd actually prefer the team to go without a manager.

aye, I stand properly corrected [8D].

Actually I think Spurs might regret not really following up their interest in Dembele - he is emerging as a very good striker.

Yes - strange one that. One minute we were really keen (if the press are to be believed) and then nothing - and he ended up, not in the Premiership, but at Celtic? Maybe Janssen will come good.....

I am glad that people who bends the rules or break them completely are exposed. But I am sad that it is the press that does it. I get the feeling that those who are supposed to check that everyone follows the rules are among the worst offenders. [:(]

I am glad that someone examines and expose the corruption in football (FIFA) but at the same time I am so sad that agencies in Europe doesn't seem to have a clue.

Spurs had a good day today, so maybe there is a small smile as well? [;)]

Either way, I feel cheerful. [:)]

Well we won, we beat a highly fancied team that had a 100% record and, we were actually the better team - much better in the first half. The icing on the cake is that my elder little warspite is showing a real interest in Spurs now - we have watched all the live games together so that is nice. Yes that makes me cheerful [:)]

The downer of course is what happened to Lewis [:(] and the fact that Europe are almost certain to lose the Ryder Cup [:(]

Then there was the nonsense with the die roller and the e-mails [:(]

So the score? [:(] 3 - 1 [:)]

But the [:)] is much bigger [:)]

Well. My smile is huge because we beat the last years Swedish champion with 6-0. (They are currently in 2nd place and we in 3rd) And even greater smile because how the goals were made.

The only downer is that our 17 year old forward scored two goals in front of the major club scouts. (reports say that Man U, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG had scouts looking at him) Not that I think he is ready to go to a major club but I also know that we can not afford to keep him.

But since I hope he gets a bright future that does not put a dampening on my smile.

Speaking of soccer...

http://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/wa ... your-mind/

What really strikes me is the wonderful stadium they've got. A 5th Division team [X(]

Many stadiums out there that seem potato fields, the perfect and natural environment for the assassins aka the axemen of this sport.

Empty the same, of course.

Yes I think so. For whoever the manager is though, this group is so straightforward, if we can't qualify easily then we don't deserve to be going to the World Cup. I mean look at Sweden's group! Ours is a joke in comparison. Southgate has a very good chance of making the job his permanently.

Indeed.

Do you think he should get it?
