RE: Battlefield Europe - Elite Forces
So did you scrap those first counter types? I thought they were awesome
It was easy to see which units were normal and which were elites.
On the new ones you can hardly tell which ones are SS.
I would lose the pictures of soldiers/tanks etc and only have Nato symbols(atleast for ground units). Right now it's kind of a mix between 3d units and counters.. Why not have them separate?
I absolutely loved the first ones, only thing I would change would be to make the Nato symbol bigger and the helmets smaller, instead of the other way around(Not really sure why the helmets are even there?)
Anyway, good job!
(Is there any chance you will release the first version for others to use ?)

Yes, that is - like so much else - a question of personal taste. The "old" counter I have (lazy as I am) taken over from my B.E. version for SC2. But after I had seen the beautiful creations of SIPRES, I wanted to have something similar for my new mod. Since I did not want to simply hijack these counters, I have now designed an own style. But the old as well as the new variant represent so-called "hybrids" after the example of the naval units of the vanilla version. With classical "Nato" counters both variants have little common. Regarding the units recognition value, I put this time on a classic "boardgame" design. The silhuettes symbolize the unit type. The letter shortcuts are based on the real unit name in the (modified) game. The numeric "x" or "I" abbreviation returns the unit size. In the overall picture, confusion is hardly possible any more. The "black" spelling and their own "unit activation sprites" should be sufficient to distinguish between Wehrmacht and SS units. Ultimately, I wanted to preserve a corporate identity, as it was not two different armies, but jointly operating troops of a single nation. But yes, the already completed old version will be attached as an alternative set. Agreed? [8D]

Great Work Battlefield!
These counters are really good in my opinion.
They are very much like the ones I'm working on in my Hybrid project.
I'm still having problems scaling down the silhouettes.
SIPRES suggested using INKSCAPE to Vectorize the image. It works good but I seem to still mess up when it gets down to the final steps.
What technique are you using to maintain clarity on such a small scale?

My secret formula: unit fonts! (Tanks-WW2 and SoldierWW2) Naval and Airforce are rezised via Photoshop and a handy finish on silhouette borders...but it is still a massive work. To be honest, I've got a bit of a mess and I've just returned to core work on my actual mod. If everything is finished, then I either continue or use a revised version of SIPRES (or yours [:D]) . My work on the 3D units and the transformed (old Battlefield Europe) hybrids are already completed. Let's see...[8D]

Hello!
At the moment, the old (the new edition of my old mod) must remain behind the innovative (Rise & Fall). As soon as my time allows it and also a final version of "Strategic Command WWII War in Europe" is available, it should definitely go on here...

RE: Battlefield Europe - Elite Forces
Even though I am honored by the nomination on Matrix's announcement page - it is equally a little unsuitable. "Elite Forces" will not be a counter mod. In fact, it is essentially an OOB mod with various changes in graphics, sounds and event scripts. The project is a conversion of my published SC2 Mod for the current version of the game. And above all, it's not finished yet. Because of the considerable development effort in the major projects "Rise & Fall" and the now forced prequel "1776 Battleground America" I had to postpone work on "Elite Forces" until further notice. But postponed is not canceled! Please be indulgent, a leisure mod designer needs a lot of time...

RE: Battlefield Europe - Elite Forces
I see what you're saying, but if these counters will come with the mod then I guess that players could just port the counters over to their own mod?
Anyway, those counters do look great! [:)]
