Matrix Games is looking at Gamespy and some others. This thread is the place to ask. You'll probably find lots of gamers to play against. Most are seasoned veterans but they are very helpful. They are always looking for fresh meat. They don't know if you'll be easy to beat or impossible. Playing a human can be very unlike the AI.

Maybe creating a *new* sticky thread where people would post their updated ICQ#s wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Not only is it not a bad idea its a good idea. At least it offers a short time solution for those that want to find other players.
I did try out combat net and it seems to work well. A good place to start a ToS room and a real-time discussion about TOS. Those that are planning on doing that can either post the times they'll be snooping around for battle or just check into combat net. I've only used it a couple of times so I don't know all the ins and outs of it.
Ain't Ded Yet :)
Dueled Coyote in Polar my Thug vs his Beguiler (will be the last time out for that design). AC12s are a good thing

I pulled off another win against Firestorm the other day. He had a cataphract (looked like 2 GCs, 2 GMH2s) and I had an instigator (2 BRGs, 1 PL). Things looked rather bad at start, as he got a nice mountain perch and started raining on me as I attempted to get close enough to use my weapons. I got a lucky break, though, when I did arrive, as my second or third BRG volley managed to tag his head. We all know how nasty BRGs are for head shots. The hit knocked his jock unconscious, and took him down to a -40% on all actions. I used his naptime as an opportunity to get a little closer, and when he woke up, he tried to fly away. Unfortunately, all I had to do was turn around and go back the other way, resulting in a clear shot at the back of his head. Which, I promptly shot again with the BRG. When he fell over this time, the fall did another 4 damage to his head, just enough to knock it off his titan's shoulders.

taren vs ducados
I dueled Taren today in my first game in a long time. We fought on custom, he´s on a Morning Star (2TB;2CS) and me on a Chameleon (1PG;1CLG;1ML;1SL). We took a long time to watch each other, but once we did I could shoot him first, punishing his head (luck) with my PG, he missed his both TB´s (and that was the first and only time he used them). He hided for while to recover his health and then came after me, while i was burning forests to keep the distance, and after another two lucky shots with the ML to his head, his pilot died.
Good begining for me, let me hope it lasts.

Fought Hetzer twice last night. First one was his CraterMaker vs. my Auto Da Fe. His titan lived up to it's name, putting so many craters in my armor that I basically fell apart, although I did give him a pair of head shots with a PG to remember me by, before he blew off multiple body parts of mine.
Second match was his LegBreaker vs. my DeathDealer. We were in hell, and I had 2 PGs, 2 TBs. I was kinda worried from the start, especially since his titan had 3 GCs, 2 PLs. I managed to get pretty close, though, and tagged him in the CT with a TB. When I closed to melee range, a second TB to the CT (called) was followed by a lucky punch to the CT, leaving him with a gaping hole in the middle of his chest.

Got a little payback against Ducados this morning. We dueled in hell on heavies. I got a Grizzly, he got a Chameleon. After a long bout of hide and seek, we finally saw each other. At first, I thought my luck was bad again, since his second PG shot nailed my head, but my luck turned when one of my AC20 shots hit HIS head and dizzied the jock. A few minutes later, he slipped on a banana peel while dodging, and my next AC20 shot decapitated him cleanly.

I've got a three game winning streak going here. Dueled Ducados in hell with heavies again. This time, I had a Frost Giant (3 CLG) and he got a Gladiator (PG, TB). Since he had high heat weapons, and my titan's heat reg wasn't the best, the heat forced us to refrain from firing most of the time, and the duel basically degenerated into a boxing match. We closed to CC range and started slugging, after a couple exchanges of energy weapon fire. He shot me in the head with the TB, luckily my pilot didn't get hurt. I did fall over, though. I got up, got his LL yellow, then he DFA'd me. It hurt, but I stayed up, and he went down. Of course, I unloaded everything I had on him while he was down.
I got his LL red with a pair of called shots, then he stood back up. Finally, a lucky kick knocked off his LL, and down he went again. After that, he got off one more TB into my RT, then I finished off his RT, and won.

The winning streak continues. Dueled Hetzer in assaults in a frozen wasteland. I got a BallBreaker (5 LRM6, 2 PG), he got a Rubbler (4 HMGs? 2LLs). We saw each other pretty early on, and immediately both ran for the high ground. Then we stood on our respective mountains and blasted at each other like angry gods hurling thunderbolts. (You were right about that being a nice one, Hetz...).
The rapid firing rate of the BallBreaker really made the difference, and I was able to turn him red in 4 places without any discoloration of my own. Finally, a PG shot to the CT torse turned his engine into a molten puddle.

Well, I lost my winning streak, but managed to keep it even with one loss and one win against Hetz. First he Abnegated my Thug, then the Thug's big brother Hoodlum finished off his WidowMaker.

Barely scraped out a win over Firestorm in the dungeon. He had a Predator (2 GC, 1 ML, I think), and I had a Halberd (GC, GM6, GM3, 2 ML, 2 SL). We saw each other early and started a long range firefight. Basically, we shot the hell out of each other, and it came down to who lost pieces first. Actually, I did, lost my LT, but there wasn't much of importance on that side. A more telling loss was when I shot off his RL. Even so, he hit me with several more good ones, including a head shot that did medium damage to my life support and caused my jock to get nasty burns from a hot cockpit seat. Finally, I finished him off by ripping off an arm.

Took a Crumbler out against Taren's Mjolnir for a really really sad exhibition of the duelists art
After an initial exchange of pleasantries more notable for my inability to hit the broadside of a barn than for anything else we settled down to some serious fistycuffs. Well if he hadn't knocked me down it would have been serious fistycuffs
I sprang back to my feet (well almost anyway) and fought back ferociously until he shot my right leg off with one of his teslas.
Deciding that I was much more comfortable that way i kept picking away at him with the two heavy mesons that I could still fire and was rewarded for my efforts by the sight of his right leg falling off with the armor still green. We then spent a considerable amount of time doing our imitation of one legged men at an *** kicking contest until a lucky meson took out his left torso and ended the game. Once again a testament to my theory that luck is to skill as 3 is to 1.

Had the pleasure of watching Taren take his own head this evening
My Thug (which was the colour of an Hawaiian sunset at the time) managed to take out his left leg and in falling he fininshed the job that I was doing to his head. His Abnegator was just flaying me alive at the time so without that particularly spectacular stroke of good fortune I would have be dog food.

I don't think anyone's really been keeping track of all the matches, unless you have, Hetzer. I've kept a record of my wins and losses since my return, but I don't remember any of it from back in the old days.
