Now all depends on the contact maintaining course and speed for the interception to be perfect. Severodvinsk stops to listen...

We cannot regain contact, even on CZ. Has she tricked us?

Happily, when Severodvinsk reaches her new patrol she easily regains contact, and immediately clasifies it as a nuclear attack sub.

Some minutes work further clasifies the contact as the SSN-23 USS Jimmy Carter, third and last of the American Seawolf class.

As you know, Jimmy Carter was modified with an extra middle part for the deployment of special forces teams. What is she doing here?

Jimmy Carter's current heading will bring her here in some hours:

The position of the ATGU. Suspicious. Needless to say, Severodvinsk will shadow her from now on. You can see that, even crossing Severodvinsk's path at 3 nm, Jimmy Carter doesn't show any sign that she has detected Russia's newest attack sub. Good news.

Jimmy Carter gets on station around ATGU, circling it at 20 knots.

I place Severodvinsk near enough to attack the American sub should the need arise.

Preparation works continue without problems, two of the TFs having finished their jobs. As they are still some days until scenario end, I decide to send them to their home ports.

In the picture, Podmoskovye and Pantera head to Ostrovnoy.

Samara and Orenburg, outside the picture, are preparing to cross Chukchi Sea for Petropavlosk. Precisely in this sea we have been detecting some periscope, we'll see.

Belgorod is working on her last assignment, while Severodvinsk is still trailing Jimmy Carter, who is happily making holes in the water around the ATGU reactor at 20 knots.

In the way back, Samara detects a submerged contact

Luckily, the contact doesn't react to the presence of both Russian subs, either because it is a whale, or if a sub, because it hasn't detected our subs, and in some minutes the contact is lost without further notice.

The scenario concludes with the three TFs on their way home, and Severodvinsk at 3 nm from Jimmy Carter, trailing her.
