Error loading Custom Mod campaigns

Post by OmegaMan1 »

Hello, when I attempt to load one of the new user-created mod campaigns, I get the following pop-up error message:

This error occurs when I try to load a mod campaign both in single-player and PBEM mode. The original campaigns load without any problems. Any idea why this is happening?

This might be related to your Windows username and if it has any special unicode characters in it the game unfortunately has some issues with this and is unable to properly load customized campaigns. Currently the only workaround is to create a new user profile on Windows without any special unicode characters and then reinstall to that profile.

Then move over your MODs and/or the Community Pack to the user folder under this profile as well and then it should be able to load just fine after that.

The path to your Windows USER folder for the game is typically the following:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe

Hi Hubert, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, my username does not contain any special characters (it's simply "Dave"). I tried to do a fresh install and update under my wife's user name ("Cathy") and got the same error. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what "special" Unicode characters are?

No misunderstanding, I just guessed wrong as to what the error was. If you navigate to your USER folder, can you find the Fall Weiss II 9.1 campaign in your 'Campaigns' folder?

Please double check your file path, compare it to post #15 here:

Hi OmegaMan1,

It looks like you simply need to re-download and re-install the Community Pack with the latest version (it has been updated from the error you've posted above) from here and that should resolve the issue for you:

Hi Hubert, thanks for the link. Unfortunately it doesn't lead me to any download, just an empty shopping cart. [&:]

Oops, I thought I could have saved you an extra click there, try this one instead and select the 'Get Now' button on the left hand side:
