Turn 14
Army Group North/Army Group Centre (northern boundary)
I will do the decisions and play cards as I go along. Having had a recent experience of running out of pp - I really don't want to do that again...
The turn kicks off with von Bock ordering his two infantry army commanders to attack as and where possible. The first attack takes place on the left shore of Lake Ilmen and sees the destruction of one Soviet division and the reduction of a second in an attack carried out by the 61st and 254th Infantry Divisions of 18th Army. On their left flank
General von Chappuis' XXXVIII Corps push back a Soviet division - and that brings an end to the attacks in the north.
West of Ostrov an attack against two rifle divisions fails to dislodge them, but to the south, 93rd Division gets across the river and establishes a tenuous bridgehead.
The mud has caught Hoepner out. His panzergruppe HQ is all on its own next to two Soviet rifle divisions... His panzers meanwhile continue north, by-passing Ostrov on their way to Pskov.
16th Army destroy three surrounded Soviet divisions, freeing up the rest of the army to head north. Ostrov is surrounded, although no attack is possible this turn.
Sadly the favour did not have the desired effect. The mud meaning that the 9th Army were not able to advance very far anyway and 3rd Panzergruppe are in ever increasing trouble; three divisions are now in the 30%-40% bracket.
