Butcher’s Bill

Overview look at losses from key units.

Infantry squads appears to have taken the brunt of the losses followed by the Air units.

My losses by Air Units I believe were greater when I allowed the Air Assistant to execute actions mainly because those actions were airfield attacks. Also the air assistant would fly less than healthy units. When I controlled the Air units I tended to fly only healthy units and did mainly combat support missions.

Comparison look at losses of Germany versus Western Allies.

Air Units

Western Allies Air Unit losses were almost 20% lower. However, many air units have none to very few air units left in the squadrons.

Nach Frankreich 1940 (t)

Final Thoughts

Pros:
1) Solo Gameplay for Axis was entertaining as well as challenging.
2) I think this would be very good fight for human vs. human play.
3) Liked the opening Theater Options which would allow for interesting replay.
4) Map was great.
5) Write up was informative and helpful.
6) Enjoyed the use and need for engineering units.

Cons:
1) Missed having HQ units at least down to the Corps level but only for immersion.
2) Would like to be able to find engineering units easily (not really a function of the scenario design but of the TOAW IV design).

Thanks for viewing.

Thanks for the great ARR and playing this scenario. Waiting the new Force Editor of TOAW IV to solve few bugs in OOB editing, I have planned an enhanced version of it.
If you have anymore suggestion, feel free to post or PM me.

It played well but I’ll think about it for a while and if Iany thing other than what I mentioned about Corps HQs, which is again really about an immersion feel, I’ll let you know.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m toying with doing a D-day scenario, or Sicily Invasion scenario, or maybe a Tunisia scenario. Not sure yet.

Yes, thanks for the nice AAR and positive comments at the end. Several of us put a lot of work into this one and it is nice to see how it works out for a fresh player.

On the lack of HQ's, it was a basic decision based on the already large number of units and the lack of purpose/use in the scenario for HQ units. Actually, in the early/first version of this one there were HQ's units for the influential combat leaders [Guderian, Rommel, Hoth, etc.], but they were removed for the final version as they didn't do much and I felt that they took away from the seriousness of the scenario design.

I can agree that the Engineer units cause some time to be spent on searching for them. No reasonable solution has been seen, so far.

Thanks again.

I appreciate the time an effort designers and testers must put into developing a scenario. I can’t even guess how much time goes into building one of these large scenarios. That’s why I did the last screen shot as a kind of recognition for those involved.

Very Nice AAR. Thanks for posting it.

Associated with finding engineers I think I can propose a work around for this by using the counter values editor function listed under player options (page 2). All nonzero counter values are engineer units.

Use "Stack Minor Fording" and "Stack Major fording" as well as "Stack Rail Repair" & "Stack Engineer" Remember to right click to bring up the white box (see graphic insert in this mssg.).

I can post additional info if your not following this.

Great suggestion. I could have coupled "Stack Major Fording" with "Stack Engineering" and this would have quickly brought the location of key engineers. "Minor Fording" was often a specialty with other units(panzer, infantry) and "Rail Repair" was not needed. But the other two would have worked nicely.
