Sugar I fail to recall this tactic being used in WW2, at least not being the norm. In WW2, when opponents would scramble fighters en masse without bombers, it would never be as a bluff or to force enemy fighters to intercept - because the enemy would simply stay put. When someone sent fighters en mass to the enemy it was for strafing air strikes.
Having said that I can see Sugar's point: If this would be changed, it would negate the mass escort advantage vs not-enough-air defense fighters. Because when a bomber unit strikes it will always be escorted by 1 fighter unit against 1 intercepting fighter. So, yeah, I can see his point, it may be frustrating when it happens against me, but I get it.
I totally agree with Private Ben on the "the wholesome of Luftwaffe in North Afrika". DAK was a massive endeavor for the OKH, represented by a national decision in game. In my opinion air units strategically relocating to Africa (Axis AND Allied) should be in the same danger as sea transported land units. Maybe with each operational move of an air unit the unit might be subject to an automatic random hit. Hit's severity would be affected by who controls Malta, Sicily and Crete (so if someone controlled all three he would operate air without danger and the other would take severe damage).
Again, I am expressing my opinion on game mechanics, not any kind of frustration vs a player. I myself used massive German air presence in N. Africa vs PvtBen. Until he through me out of N. Afrika that is
