It's only June 1942 in game so Rabaul's ownership is very much in doubt. I think the Japanese are settling other accounts before they get serious at Rabaul.

• Finally we see another Imperial ground unit (courtesy RDF), but not where we expect. An unidentified formation is on the road 3 hexes east of Nookanbah. Best guess is yet another reinforcement while other units are farther ahead but yet to be seen.

• Probably in two days the 8th Cav Recce Rgt will get to Katherine. With Exp 70 they will attack the enemy unit along with the Exp 35 armoured unit.

• In the coming days - weather dependent - we will transfer several squadrons of B-17's from Hawaii to Australia. In Hawaii they serve a defensive purpose which is surplus at the moment; the Marshall Islands bases will not be able to support them for a long time even if all goes well; in Australia they will be boost our striking power against the invaders significantly; they will increase our ability to attrite the Empire's deployed carrier fighter squadrons; they will possibly signal to the Empire an increased commitment on our part in Australia. • No carrier sightings.

• Upgraded several Sqns of USMC fighters to Wildcats so they can ship aboard the carriers. The four best Sqns have Wildcats; the other USMC fighters at PH have Buffaloes. Wasp cannot take a squadron but the other five fleet carriers can and so can Long Island, although I have not decided what kind of aircraft she will carry/ferry.

• Enemy sub activity near Pearl Harbor.

• Enemy surface activity near Johnston Island. As yesterday, currently 1x PB sighted 8 hexes south of Johnston Island. It is also possible there is a float plane equipped submarine operating with the PB.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• Pearl Harbor continues to undergo enemy reconnaissance and our numerous ASW TF and search plus ASW aircraft are not able to make contact. DL today is 2/2. Where could they be? We are forming 2 more ASW TF (2x DD each) to fill in a couple of gaps in our ASW TF coverage, but we have no gaps in our search coverage. What is the maximum range of those Japanese submarine-capable float planes?

• Our APD's sailed peacefully away from air search which might have been due to that "PB" south of Johnston Island and the PB has hardly moved if at all. The CL group has altered course to overrun the hex where the PB is now sighted.

• We now have one additional AK and AP at Pearl Harbor as they arrived in company of a CLAA and two destroyers.

• Yet another LCU is seen 1 hex west of Katherine. Is this one the division seen much earlier near Derby?

• We took a chance on heavy rain at Brisbane and brought in all 4 squadrons of B-17's. 1 plane damaged; none lost. There are 2 stragglers at Pago Pago.

• No sightings near the Exmouth corner of Australia.

• It seems there is less attention being given to Brisbane by enemy subs lately and more to Sydney. We already moved a KV ASW rgoup there from Melbourne and will now move a squadron of USA A-24 Banshee dive bombers there too. They've been doing ASW work at Brisbane and can at least hit the water.
