Heeresgruppe Nord. The OKH and OKW are not satisfied by how things are going here. The Soviets had a lot of bad weather making it possible for them to reinforce the frontlines in force. One would expect the Euroaxis to get one or two fine impulses from S/O to M/A. They got none. And coupled with the bad results in combat during the summer of 1941, things are not good looking at all...

Heeresgruppe Süd:

von Manstein would have loved one good weather impulse to crack the defense line at Rostov... But it was storms, blizzard, snow and rain the whole time. Perhaps the summer of 1942 can make things a little better for the Euroaxis. But prudence is the key, because the Soviets will only get stronger and stronger from now on...

And the emptiness of Manchuria. It looks like Uncle Joe doesn't want to fight the Japanese this summer.

The Chinese have no oil and with the Birma Road cut off by Japanese mountaineers west of Kunming, they have problem. Every impulse the Japanese have tried to disorganise Chiang and Mao but they didn't succeed until now. So the Chinese are still a threat to the Japanese...

The Japanese Home Islands. I tend to build all NAV and FTR's that are available to the Japanese, since land based air is the key for a good defense.

After the next couple of impulses. This is the situation in Italy. The US burned an offensive and with only a few land units on the map, the invasion of Italy occurred. Things are bad, very bad for the Italians, since a calculation by me concluded that I cannot counter the garrison value in Italy at all this turn, if the Allies move every unit they can into Italy. I've been caught with my pants down. I'm terribly rusty and a fool...

Von Manstein is under orders to take Rostov at all costs. An offensive gets burned and the defenders of the city are destroyed. However, the die roll was poor on this attack (+12), causing the loss of a division...

A second attack by von Manstein ended with another poor die roll. At +11, the defenders got shattered and the attacking army partly disorganized. Sure, the loss of a Soviet FTR is good, but I rather would have killed the enemy forces. The story of not killing units in Russia continues...

After the next couple of impulses, the stalemate in the Far East continues. Both sides don't want to engage in combat with the other side. Christmas Island and Cocos Island are occupied by the Japanese.

In Russia, no attacks this turn. Due to the Allies attack in Italy, the Axis are withdrawing a couple of units to get a frontline in Italy and make sure to be able to keep in supply...

Why is the Wehrmacht unable to roll more than a 10 on the 2D10 table in Russia on land attacks? The Luftwaffe rolls 15 and more a lot, but on land attacks, the rolls are poor again. Again, whole army groups are flipped on +10 or more attacks and Soviet units are all but destroyed...
