You lulled him into a false sense of security, shown by him not having a single plane up as a night fighter, as the Americans have many NF squadrons by this point. Since 160 of the ground loses were B-17s, B-24s and TBMs, this will
slow but hinder his night bombings. I would follow up and try to destroy all those damaged air frames sitting like ducks on a heavily damaged airfield. If you do you could double or triple his loses.

Not sure if it's clear from the reports. This was a daylight attack. Not night.

The only fighters in base were actually NF Hellcats, which didn't show up on recon as fighters, interestingly.

Not sure if I mentioned, but at least according to recon there were only 6 planes left in the base the next day. I moved my bombers back to the relative safety of Tokyo and Osaka fields.

How your opponent would leave that many 4EB's defenseless is beyond me, as he always seems very meticulous. Nevertheless, congrats on a very good strike! Losing over 200 4EB's in a day. Wow, that is going to set him back a little bit.

CR is kind of all or nothing, and there have been several other opportunities that didn't work out for various reasons.

In China several bases had hundreds of bombers, probably 1E and 2E, but with no CAP. Only the big 4E base had CAP. Tried strikes from Nagasaki but no joy. Didn't fly.

At Vlad a while back there were no fighters and about 800 other planes. My bombers didn't fly for days due to weather. He got recon hits on my Manchurian bases and I flew the planes out to not suffer a strike while waiting.

At Heijo only a few weeks ago he had 900 bombers, 700 auxiliary and only 150 fighters in base. Again my bombers did not fly, but sweeps did, and the next day the fighters had tripled.

I have some other plans, but when the concentrations are so huge and under such a big umbrella of the Death Star or a 700 plane CAP (like Shikuka/Heijo right now), there is not much I can do until something is left uncovered on the edges. It will be at some point, but I have a short window to strike.

With the emphasis now on strategic bombing I think you're right. It's a level 9 base at Kushiro so to not defend it is definitely a choice. It's had fighters previously, for sure. It could be a piece of the puzzle with whatever all of the sweeps are doing over Fukuoka.

I would bet he also thought flak would do a bit better at limiting a strike. I sure did!

The Strat Bombing continues against Yokohama. A night strike. This does get some attention from the heavy concentration of flak there, but not what I would hope.

On the 3rd a strange interaction, as an AMC running from Hong Kong bumps into an undefended merchant convoy. Unfortunately the IJN ship's aim seems a bit off.

Another armor only attack at Shanghai. Same kind of result.

Hope he continues with those widely separated restricted land attacks at Shanghai as you are gaining more VPs than he is.  The only real danger from the attacks is if they deplete your supply too quickly.  You would be in greater danger there were he to attack every day.

A big combined day and night strike on Fukuoka, where sweeps have been grinding against the CAP for about a week. The main strikes do well, but the small packets are decimated. The Allies will get decent Strat points as fires burning heavily but there is a cost. The airframes lost VPs have shifted in favour of the Japanese and that may be the only thing that can keep me in the game long term since those are permanent points. About 50 Lancasters downed on the day.

Near Tienshui the Allied army crosses after a month or so of bombing and threatening movement. It still suffers a 1:5 against the dug in Japanese and heavy losses. I don't think this area will be in danger of moving back for a long time.

Hope he continues with those widely separated restricted land attacks at Shanghai as you are gaining more VPs than he is.  The only real danger from the attacks is if they deplete your supply too quickly.  You would be in greater danger there were he to attack every day.

Here is the kami strike. With the ships sunk and the troops on them I'd guess these strikes break even in VPs. I have some other ideas ...

More Strat bombing against Gifu, targeting individual airframe factories. A decent showing, but not nearly as effective as manpower bombing. Factories take some hits, but I won't feel the production effects for a while. It's mainly the VP hit that I feel now.

The big event though was ... ATOMOIC BOMB on Tokyo!!

I looked hard at first to find the damage. I noticed there were about 8-9k new Strat VPs on the info screen, but didn't notice what had been hit at Tokyo. Finally I looked at manpower, and it seems the strike destroyed a LOT of manpower and damaged all of the rest. I'm curious if this will now limit the effectieness of manpower bombing here. If so init will make me think twice about hitting Tokyo with a Nuke.

Also, Shanghai takes a big hit as more troops pile in. The first full DA gets a 1:3 and lowers forts to 6. If only there was some more supply this would hang on and damage a lot more allies, but the build-up was long and extensive. It's held a lot of Allied troops here waiting, so that's good.

A lot of big sweeps at Shanghai. The CAP does fairly well against the masses of USN Corsairs. These have been the toughest sweepers for a long while, and it's nice to see a lot of them go down and lose pilots over our base, while we lose only about 1/3 KIA for the number shot down.

I'll be sending Ki-83 all over to try to hit bombing runs in the next few turns, and then bring them to the DEI where I have a few bases still with decent supply and air support. I've got some more kami plans down there I'd like to try. [;)]

I'm thinking that way, but I doubt he will. It has gained some points for him but not done a lot of damage to industry. We'll see.

My supply is so limited that ground offensives are tough to initiate. I'm actually still getting a trickle of resources from Davao through Babeldaob, but the major industry at Tokyo/Osaka can't operate now.

I'll hope he continues to try attacking Keijo and it's x4 with 6 forts and other good defensive spots in Korea and that the air losses points can keep me going for a few more months.

Other than that I'll be trying to see if he's paying attention to CAPing rear areas and deep ocean transports.

On the 8th big strategic strikes at Nagasaki and Maebashi. The airframe factory raids are less effective, but they do manage to get some damage this time, with the Jack factory nearly destroyed. A few others took some damage as well. I have only now about 35 Jacks producing, but do have another 200+ in the pools. This version of the Jack, the J2M5 is a less necessary fighter at this stage, outclassed by the Frank Ki-84r and George N1K5.

Big fires are started at Nagasaki, up over 140k during the strike and still at 28k by morning. This will cause a lot of residual damage as they burn.

A few LR CAP tries. The one over Shanghai fails due to an unexpected nighttime bombardment at Hangchow. He got lucky there, and I should have done this last turn as I'd planned. Up in the North I had better luck, downing probably 25 A-26C Invaders on their millruns.

An unintended kami strike occurred near Shanghai as the very long range Patsy flew from Yokohama. I hadn't rallied one group was not shut down after changing to this airframe. Whoops!. Amazed that one actually got through the massive CAP to strike, but didn't hit. These are fast planes though at 350mph.
