Communist China surrenders.
An invasion force is spotted off Hawaii.

The Soviets rebuy 2 armies. There isn't much
action this month.

The US researches Ground Attack Weapons and Long Range Aircraft.

The UK researches Naval Weaponry. A huge task force is in Arctic waters
and will hunt for Axis vessels there next month.

Soviet winter strikes, but how much help will it really be?

30 January 1942

The Nelson BB is sunk at Malta. We simply don't have the MPPs
to repair all our battleships.
A DD is sunk north of Norway. A u-boat takes 5 steps damage as
it runs into another DD. The German Naval bomber operates out of
Kirkenes.

India invests in Amphibious Warfare. By now its defenses are ready, it
would be really hard for Japan to invade.

The US invests in Heavy Bombers. By this time (1942) I have usually built 4 naval bombers,
however in this game I am building another tank instead.

Operations in Libya are concluded. We'll probably send some troops against the Italians in East Africa next.

On the Arctic convoy route we sink one CA and damage an other. Further west two u-boats are lightly damaged.
A German BB is spotted in Bergen. A minimum of 5 u-boats are still active, along with powerful surface units.
We still have several tough naval battles ahead of us.

The Soviets rebuilt one army and one corps.
Japan is clearly getting ready to attack in the east.

27 February 1942

Naval battles in the north. The Duke of York BB has one step left.

India buys a corps, China rebuilds an army.
The US researches Advanced Tanks (currently at level 2) and Amphibious Warfare.
They buy a tank unit.

In the Arctic our CV is unable to bomb a German CA because of the map edge...
We score a few hits on a couple of u-boats instead.

Off Norway the Rodney hunts for the Bismarck but finds a DD instead and inflicts
5 steps of damage. The Bismarck in return sinks on of our DDs.
Another of our DDs runs into the CC Gneisenau and takes 4 steps. In return, our CV
inflicts heavy losses on the Gneisenau.
And there are other minor skirmishes, including a DD vs DD action.

The Soviets rebuild 2 corps, an anti-air, a special forces unit and a cavalry unit.

27 March 1942

Continued naval battles, we lose a destroyer.

The US researches Anti-Tank Weapons and builds 3 tanks.

The UK receives a CVL. We search desperately for German naval
units but all we find are u-boats. We manage to sink one and damage a few.
We build a destroyer.

The Soviets rebuy an anti-tank and a heavy armor. They invest in Advanced Tanks.

24 April 1942

Japan declares war on... well, everyone.
Burma, Brunei, DEI, New Guinea, Naura all fall/surrender.
Malaya and the Philippines will fall next month (empty capitols).
Hawaii is invaded and we lose one fighter. The other fighter evacuates
directly to the UK.
The UK loses a CL in the Atlantic.

India researches Amphibious Warfare and buys a corps. A slow advance begins into
the jungles of Burma.

China rebuys an army.

The US evacuates two fighters and a heavy bomber from the Pacific to the UK.
The CA New Orleans, the only Pearl Harbor survivor, inflicts 3 step losses
on the Soryu carrier. It has 2 steps left itself and will be sunk next turn.
The US also buys two medium bombers.

The UK starts an advance from Sudan towards Italian East Africa.

The UK also keeps hunting u-boats. We count at least 7 active, although some
of them are by now quite damaged. U-boat tech is at level 2.

We invest in Production Technology.

The Soviets face a new menace in the east.

The Caucasus has fallen and soon the panzers will aim deeper into interior Russia.

The Soviets rebuy 2 corps and buy one new shock army.

Did he manange to kill marine unit in Honolulu or the city was defended by evacuated airplanes?
I must say, that for modest MPP's Japan has, your opponent does what he wants. China taken, nearly all Pacific, now Syberia... [&:] Arguably a wery weak China position in this game lets them to run rampant.

The marine divisions have evacuated. I wanted to keep it under wraps but EVERYTHING will be sent to Europe.
It's the only way to have a slim chance against a solid Axis player like zzmzzm. If we can capture Paris before
the USSR collapses we might have a chance.

China actually went ok in this game, they did inflict some damage. When I play Japan I usually take Chunking sooner.
I'm hoping that this AAR will finally point out the utter weakness of China and Russia.
My progress as the Axis is usually about the same, although I do some things a bit differently
(and I like to experiment).

Looking at it I must say, It's psychologically extremely hard to play Allies in this game. You take such a beating, way bigger in real life and in theaters you wouldn't expect to. And you probalby have one chance to change it whole game, if Axis parries your invasion, then it's GG.
There was an argument on this forum, that Axis should be weaker, but their in game performance should be measured against real life events, e.g if they don't lose Berlin before V 1945 it's an accomplishement. But game would have to be reworked to make it viable.
