Dear John and your mighty team.

I have been playing your RA 7.9 now well into the summer of 1944. It's an excellent mod.

I had a few ideas to make an alternative start to the war to make more of an impact on the allies (but with faster allied reinforcement) and also introduce the concept of some better Japanese to engine fighters to take on the four engine bomber menace mid war. Also beefing up the Japanese land army a bit. And and adding some smaller garrison style battalions and engineer companies. Also a few bits and bobs for the allies.

Would you mind if I used your RA as the base for these changes. I am not very experienced in the editor and do not want to start from scratch. Is that okay?

If so which version of the editor should I be using the standard one in the game or the one that says 64, I am running Windows 8 there is also the other program to download (you can see in my other thread) but I'm not sure if that is used instead of the editor.

Nothing would change otherwise in your mod. I was going to make this number 42.

Await your news.

Sorry that was a bit off topic in this thread. I thought first it was also about playtesting your RA

What Should I look at in the Japanese economy on the last and first day of the month....GP

How much it cost for pilots to come out of basic training. You need to know how many days of surplus it will cost every month, especially since there comes a pint in which the cost jumps up greatly (sorry, I do not recall the date).

Others have given good answers, heed them.

VMF-222 and VMSB-242 arrive on day 84 at Midway Island with 2 planes each. Since in this Mod it is a good tactic to take Midway early, as opposed to in Stock, would it be a good idea to have these two air squadrons arrive in Pearl Harbor?

Just my (devalued) 2 cents

Just did a quick touch-up to BTSL:
1. As per Kitakami's advice I moved VMF-222 and VMSB-242 to Pearl Harbor instead of Midway.
2. Fixed the A5M4 Upgrade Path.
3. Missed the Oscar 1d factory for BTSL so I changed out the Oscar plant in Harbin.
4. Moved a Betty unit from Saigon to Takao.
5. Moved all the Air Search/Recon in Takao to Hengchun (4 Units).

The Chichibu is purple and black when bombarding. That graphic element needs to be looked at.

John, Baseforces. The one thing I'm finding hard to do is move air units forward due to a lack of free BF's. What about adding a few at select bases like Truk, CRB and some others. What do you think?....GP

Welcome to the joys of playing as Japan. [:D] You have enough PP to buy out some BFs from Manchuria and/or Japan. Don't forget the importance of getting xAKs to large ports (size 6 or larger) to have them temporarily convert to xAK -t to allow troop transport. Some can be done in less than a week. It took me many times playing as Japan to figure this all out. I had it down pretty well by the last game I played against you. [;)] Operational tempo is THE hardest part of playing Japan in the first few months.

You HAVE Base Forces in Japan that can be moved, however, they start at cadre status. The 9th Air Fleet is spread through Kyushu and includes 9th Air Fleet HQ, 3 Air Flotilla HQ, and 3 large Base Forces. Only problem is that they start in a cadre status of about 25-30% strength. If you want to fill them out quickly, move them to a bigger base (Nagasaki or Hiroshima) and have LOTS of supply to let them take replacements.

Other then that--as Michael suggests--look at Manchuria to buy them out.

IT is ALL about tempo as Michael said. Very tough to move things along. I find myself--at the start--thinking 2-3 invasions ahead for units. You want to have a hammer, you have to look 2-3 weeks ahead to be able to keep right on pummeling the enemy and not allow the a chance to get on their feet.

This is where an active Allied defense can cause real issues if they score a success. Jorge managed to catch an Amphib TF without escort and sank the ENTIRE 90th Infantry Regiment. Losing that unit immediately created a small crisis for me. Had to begin improvising right off the bat. Don't like to do that unless for very good reasons!
