I like the Allied side. I may give it a spin in a few days.

I've played this several times, made a mod scen to adjust most of the items already mentioned. Sadly, I can't find my notes (I had to change machine a few years ago and some items were lost in the shuffle).

Anyway, very happy to see some work on this again. It is a GREAT scenario!!

OK, I downloaded the Downfall scenario and I intstantly remembered why I had never played it - the left part of the map bothers me. China, Indochina, Malayas - all empty of Allied troops, with the Jap units in their Dec 7, 1941 postitions. No Soviets either. The map feels... artificial?

Andy,

More notes on this from the IJ side:
Bangkok: only 2 HQ's. I suspect there should be a depleted BDe here as well.
Canton: 47th Sentai: should have upgraded from the Ki-44 Tojo long ago as those were just prototypes. Ki-44c? maybe half the group? 24 AC or so …
Also, either HK or Canton, prolly Canton, should have an air HQ present by '45. One of the china air HQ's would have shifted here.
near HongKong (78,60) - these units should be in HK, not just outside.
Haiphong: maybe a few xAKL's hiding out here?

324 - Hengchun needs a bde at least, or an understrength div moved from Takao.
Nagasaki: hard to see this not a 9/9 AF/port by this date.

De facto in this scenario China and Korea are really only to provide resources and supply and LCU's and basically a reason for the remaining Japanese merchant marine to exist.

Japan main islands can be substantially reinforced from these locations and as important shipping supply and fuel from Korea/China and Sakkalin to japan proper is the key to Japanese resistance once the land war on HI begins

I left a couple of bases in the West and SEA to allow harassment raids on convoys and naval search to see whats coming plus supply from Palembang if the Japanese dare.

This is a scenario about invading the HI leaving those limited bases not in the HI makes the scenario more than just the allies performing amphib and grind operations - it gives the Japanese player somewhere to get additional resources and allows an allied player to use his subs.

That was the only reason I left those bases in play

Andy, you have pilots that have values of 15 and 17 for aircraft type defined. There are no aircraft that are defined as 15 or 17. This causes Tracker to fail to load.

Also, Ponape does not have a valid HQ assignment.

15 are B17 Pilots and 17 is attack bombers

Never used tracker so don't really know why they wouldn't work but they work in game

Ponape good spot thanks

They work in the game, but tracker was not programmed to recognize them. I changed them to plane type 4 instead.

Not sure that the Allies need another a/c but there existed in Aug 45 a contract for the production of 500 attack bomber versions of the PV-2 called the PV-2D which had 8 fixed forward firing .50 cal MGs (vice 5 in the ordinary PV-2). Eight planes were produced before the contract was cancelled in Sept 45. Although the 11.75 inch Tiny Tim rocket is not included in the game I think that the PV-2D could carry it fully internally (the PV-2 could carry one but couldn't close the bomb-bay doors fully.

Fantastic scenario.

Is the Allies AI meanwhile functional? I am pretty new in WITPAE so I am okay when the AI is not completely perfect.

As Allied player is there a way or scen version including templates for all amphibious forces i. e. that they´re already organized in task forces and loaded with troops and have rough plans for where and when they want to hit the mainland?

I think that is something that you have to learn by doing but also by reading AARs and asking questions.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I switched back to this Downfall version: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3198064 as it is reported to have working Allies AI. This beta version states in the 1st post that is h2h only, not sure if this is still true but in case you won´t take chances when playing JPN vs AI
